    The Awakening - Grace Gardner

    Chapter One

Marcy Davis was raised in Pueblo Colorado. Her adopted parents took her in as a newborn but Marcy always knew she was adopted. At sixteen her mother died of cancer and her father became very depressed and started acting like a different person. He came one day and said I can’t deal with everything now your mom is gone, the pain is just too much. He disappeared that night and for two days there was no sign of him. Marcy went to the only people she truly felt like were family to her, her second family the McCormick.

The McCormick were wonderful people. Daniel was the father his wife Carla and and he had two sons from other wives, John and Charles. Marcy went over one evening and told Daniel what her father had said and how he was acting, and also let he know he had been gone for two days. Next morning Daniel and the boys went out looking for him. Carla told Marcy no matter what happen things would turn out alright when they returned several days later they found no trace of Marcy father and Daniel was puzzled in what happen to him disappearing was not something there kind just up and did Marcy never heard from him again.

Marcy finished school in pueblo and even went on to take a few classes in college. They were a very close family and it seemed they always looked out for each other? Marcy told Daniel one night that she was thinking about leaving the Pueblo area when she finish her last class. A look of concern crossed his face. He said I knew one day I’d explain this to you and that is when he started to tell her how she found her way into their family, and their lives. Daniel held her hand and started the long story on how she was dumped by her mother on the door steps of a church as a newborn and the congregation took Marcy in soon her presents was felt and it caused quite a big stir the decision to do something with her was made. And the decision was to take Marcy out into the wilderness and leave her. That way the elements would take care of her and it would be out of their hands. So that’s what they did. Daniel said shaking his head took a baby out in the middle of nowhere and left her. You were out there as far as we could tell about forty eight hours. Our pack wondered on you one night while out hunting. Daniel said any question yet? What was so wrong with me that no one wanted me? Not even church people and they decided to throw me out what am I satan? Daniel smiled no you’re not satan but this could mean several things but what matters is we care about you and need to have you in our lives. So does it really matter? Your so very special to us to our whole pack community why should it matter what others think. Marcy besides that being raised in a wolf environment made you special always seemed right at home like you truly belonged here your passage thought life it seems is the native american one. Daniel said I remember when you was a baby you never cried or smiled much you studied people faces. Deep thinker you was always felt of magic but for what you actually are, I have never named you when it awakens you’ll know. Marcy looked at Daniel so I guess you’re telling me I was raised in a wolf family? In fact the word he used was werewolf family. Daniel smiled a nodded yes. At first it made no sense to her how all this could be real she kept thinking how could this be possible? But the more Daniel talked and the more she thought about it hit her that’s why her mom looked older and her dad looked like he always looked. Daniel looked a lot younger Carla and even his sons John and Charles act a lot older than they looked. Daniel explained to her Carla her mom was all humans but most all the men in the group were werewolves. Everyone knew Daniel was the leading alpha in the area, and how respected and known by all the wolf tribes and packs in the nation. He and his sons help teach and train new alpha’s and other wolves when they first turn and need help with their control. They teach hunting and basic survival and most important how to shape shift and handling oneself during and after the change, he even helped other were animals besides the wolves.

Time passed and Marcy left pueblo that summer and moved to Boise City Oklahoma she didn’t know anyone there but it was not close but not far away from home it was a safe distance and Daniel was pleased he had friends in the area that could check on her.

    Chapter Two

First order of business once in Boise City was to get gas. Marcy pulled into the local gas and stop store to get some gas and the place was so busy and the teller was outside working on the gas pump Marcy stepped in everyone inside were getting very angry and upset over waiting she looked at the cash register and knew how to use it so she started ringing people up and making the tourist happy seemed to be some car race or something up the road and this shop was the closest place that had ice and cold beer when the boss made it back inside he seemed pleased at the job she was doing. He smiled and told her thanks a million seems like your right at home Marcy asked him if he had these problems often and he said oh once in a while. Marcy went ahead and put her neck out and ask would you need some help by any chance? The old man smiled and said if it’s help like you you bet she then told him nice to meet you i’m Marcy Davis and her new boss said call me zeb. Be here about eight in the morning o k Marcy smiled and said sure thing Zeb as she was making her way back to her car Marcy got to thinking first stop in town she meets her first friend and a new boss maybe this is a lucky place after all.

Zebu helped Marcy find a place to live, it was about five miles outside of town close to the gas station. It was a real nice single wide trailer house the minute she saw it something told her it was just what she needed and it was right for her. Across the road was another empty house it was the closest things to her out there but it was way too big both places had attached yards and behind at least an acre of woods it was kind of isolated but it seemed just perfect.

Marcy talked to Zeb about her leaving Colorado and he said it was a brave thing to do, and said he was always there for her. Zeb did tell Marcy he wanted her to know right off he was fae and had recently been found out. The fae came out since so many were being involved in the public eye and running for offices. Just so she knew it didn’t cause any problems at first but then the believers started and they can make a mess when they want to, that’s when Marcy told him she was considered soul less Zeb sit back and looked at her and said I felt something around you but I would have never thought soul less are you sure? Marcy told Zeb about Daniel McCormick and how he told her how special she was and how when the time came it would awaken in me and I’d known for sure what I am but for right now she felt soul less and Zeb said that man’s words good for me I don’t think he knows how to lie. They both laugh Marcy had to agree with that but Zeb kept looking at her and said there’s something else going on with you but I can’t put my finger on it either.

Marcy lived all alone out there till one day six months later she came home to notice red ribbons and yellow tape in the yard next to here. Within a week concrete trucks and lumberyard workers were all over the place and within
