Karen, a young teen, born and raised in Gary, Indiana, always aspired to become a model. Having big dreams, she would do whatever it took to reach the stars and see something else other than Gary. Her dreams will shortly change once her access to social media will send her on a tail spend of dangerous sexual encounters, drugs, a near-death experience, and life lessons. Karen's life went downhill when she encountered a woman in the form of a man who took the name of Todd. Following short after, she met her boyfriend, who turned her emotions inside out and did the unexpected. She went from a sheltered happy teenager to a damaged woman real fast. That saying "The older and wiser use" would shortly be a motto she wished she lived by: "Stay a child while you can. Stop being in a rush to grow up." Karen's history of partners could lead her in a direction that's hard to detour from, when she has unfortunate STD results. Where will her choices land her, and is it ever possible to regain that life she once had? Just how far will opening Pandora's box take Karen? Will she survive, or will death take its place? Chapter 1

Everybody has a story to tell. Some are funny, evil, and even worth the praise. However, it’s not often you hear a tragic story not knowing if the ending will be appealing to the heart, body, and soul. I have a friend whose story is chilling and hasn’t been told in its entirety. She’s been judged prematurely and stomped on, but her life wasn’t always so bad. I want to share a story with you of someone dear to me in hopes that you change how you judge people as well as how you treat them.

Karen grew up as a sheltered child, who had no clue as to what the real world had to offer. She grew up in a home with three brothers and a sister and her mom, who worked two jobs and was also a college student. She never knew the struggle of not eating or lights being cut off. She never knew what it was like to grow up in broken home because her parents didn’t divorce till she was maybe eight or nine. Even when they moved back to Gary, Indiana, her mom still worked and provided. Soon after, the family still came full circle with a man who took in all five of her kids as if they were his. At this point in time, Karen was eleven.

Karen and her siblings weren’t allowed to spend nights at people’s house unless their parents met both parents of the other child, and even then, if something didn’t sit right they still couldn’t go. When they were able to spend nights, they had to be home by twelve noon, or they would be in trouble. Their parents were so strict to the point that they couldn’t even spend nights at certain relative’s houses. They couldn’t listen to certain songs, let alone watch certain movies, and they also were brought up in church. She was a tomboy that eventually got interested in the fashion lifestyle. All through high school, she would wear the latest hairstyles and certain outfits that her parents would approve of.

At this time in her life, Myspace was one of many famous social media sites, and this is where everything started to change for her. Teenagers get on these sites and can be as famous as they want to be and encounter other people worldwide. She also developed a new freedom to where her parents allowed her to have a cell phone in high school. That’s when all hell broke loose. Now Karen’s parents had a friend who was well in his thirties. He owned a couple of car washes among other things. He came around often and the looks he gave said very little, but his actions would soon speak in volumes.

Still in high school, she was no virgin, but only had two partners. With how strict her parents were, she eased those two people into her life. Both older than her at the ages of twenty-one and twenty-five. But even then, that didn’t tip the glass. Now at the age of eighteen, she and her friend Bridgett would go out on the weekends and talk to guys, have drinks, and just all around have a great time. Bridgett was a few years older than Karen, but they hit it off great and also stayed right across the street from one another.

They had the lifestyle any teenager would love to have, more freedom and time to do whatever they wanted without a parent chaperon. Their troubles started when they included her cousin Tasha on one of their outings. But before I get to that part, I have to go back to Onyx, the family friend. Onyx popped up at the house one day to see if Karen wanted to work at his car wash. By him being a friend of the family, her mom okayed it. Now keep in mind graduation was around the corner, so technically she was still a child to him.

The first day working for him was just that work. He talked to her, asked a lot of questions, and basically was pulling her in without her knowledge. The very next time she worked for him, they washed two trucks and a car, and the other girl was dropped off at home. Instead of taking both girls home, he took Karen back to his place. As he showered, she sat on his couch and flipped through the channels. At the moment of finding something, Onyx came into the living room and joined her on the couch.

Onyx placed his arm behind her head and started to gently rub his fingers through her blond micro braids. As his hands left her hair, he gently placed his hands on her legs caressing her and nibbling on her neck. Come with me. As she followed him to his bedroom, she heard the feeling of panic rushed through her body. Should this be happening, what would people think and so on? As he eased his hands up her shirt leading to the back of her bra layer by layer, her clothes dropped.

Onyx whispered in her ear sweet things gently laying Karen on his bed. Kissing her from her forehead down to her pierced belly button. Breathe, baby, you good. Heart pounding every second, he slowly penetrated her raw, and with every stroke, her pearl felt something different. With every stroke, he gazed into her eyes and kissed her as if she was the woman for him. Sweat filled the sheets and their bodies as they both reached their climax. He cuddled her as they slept.

After that incident took place, he made her promise not to tell her parents about the two of them. Okay, I won’t say a word. He gave her money, and almost every time she went over to work, he always found a way to get her in his bedroom. What slowly opened the door to their secret coming out was when he asked her to go out of town with him. That’s when her parents started really asking questions and pulled the plug on her working for him. Now that brings me back to Bridgett and Tasha.

Tasha wanted to hang out with the girls one night so they all went to TGI Fridays, where Onyx and his friend Chris came through. Now Chris favored the rapper J. Jones so that played a major part in why she was interested in talking to him in the first place. After they took things further that night, Chris eventually started to beat on Tasha, and things went south for Karen and Onyx as well.

One particular night they all went out. They were actually headed home when Tasha decided she wanted to go over and battle it out with Chris. Karen got caught up in the mix with her parents due to a night gone wrong.
