About this ebook

James Robert Long III was diagnosed as a genius at the age of 4. Life has been good to him as you will find out when you follow the path that he relates to you.
His father was also a genius and had problems with his mind being attacked whenever a crime was being performed in the vicinity where his mind could capture the action.
This kid genius practically took over everything at the age of 5 but was fortunate not to have brought any dissatisfaction upon his family or anyone else. The family tried to keep anyone outside of their realm from knowing about such performance..
He carried on the regular family tradition of being the one in control of almost everything that entered his mind as well as inventions, becoming an author and anything else he thought of doing and was successful in his actions at an early age in life.

    CHAPTER 1

Students, teachers, visitors and ladies and gentlemen. This session is a special one due to the fact that we have a very special speaker today.

Some of you might remember a former student who graduated three yeas ago and is now attending the El Dorado University. He is in his senior year since he has attended every summer session after he started his college work. His name is Andrew Morton and he will introduce the speaker of the day. Students may I again introduce Andrew Morton. Andrew! the principal said then took his seat on the stage.

Thank you Sir. Students, and all others present. It is good to be back in this school again. Being a full time student at the University I do not have much free time and must really cram to keep up with the others in the class. It is a pleasure to be here and a real pleasure to introduce you to the speaker of the day. I am in the same class as the speaker and he assists me as much as I try to help him. He is a senior along with me at the University. It is going to be difficult for you to understand how this speaker reached his senior year. His specialty is that he knows what the instructor is going to talk about before the class starts and usually informs me of that fact as we sit in class. He is self educated, young but has a mind far above anyone in this building and you will notice as he speaks. I now introduce you to Mr. James Robert Long III. Mr. Long! he said and took his seat.

I got up from my seat and walked to the podium. There was a murmuring from the audience as I was getting on the box I had to use to see over the podium.

I began my speech by saying, Students, teachers and visitors. It is a real pleasure for me to be able to speak to you this afternoon. I know you all are rather stunned to see a 6 year old boy as your speaker of the day. Well, you are not alone as I am just as stunned as you are as I never believed it would ever happen to me either. Anyway I am here and I must say it is indeed a pleasure for me to have an audience such as you for my debut into probably becoming a public speaker.

My father, Dr. James Robert Long, Jr. was also a speaker at this student body many years ago and he received the same reaction from the audience as I am receiving from all of you. He was 18 years of age at the time. He informed me before I came here today to give any of you a chance to ask questions if you desire to do so. With the permission of the principal I will give you the opportunity of asking me any question you want to within reason and time available. I can answer any thing you ask me but certain questions will be ignored if deemed improper or out of place to the audience. Time will also be factored in and I may not be able to answer very many questions.

"Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am only 6 years of age but my mind is that of an older individual and at times I have found out while at the university that it is much older that the average professors mind who has completed their education and is now in their lifetime career. I do not know how this happened or why but I feel the good Lord has done this to me for some reason and someday I hope to find out why.

My father has not been able to find out why he has a mind that is called a genius. He will know someday just as I will eventually find out why God picked us for this type of brain. In the meantime I am trying to live a normal life as is possible but it is difficult due to the kids body that I have and protecting my mind which is years older. Andrew can give you the details of what I go through at the university as he is my physical guarding angel during my time in classes. I could take tests on all the subjects I am taking and could pass them with flying colors but I want to get a college degree on my record and attending classes is the only way I can obtain it at this time due to my age. I take the same subjects that Andrews does since he is my guardian when I am at the University with him as I said before. He makes me feel good when he asks me to assist him with some problem that has arisen in his studying. Also, I could not or rather would not be able to attend the university if I did not have an adult for protection and guidance. Andrew is filling that role on my behalf. My parents would refuse me permission to go by myself.

Enough now about me. I am going to talk on one subject today. Educate yourself. I hope I can impress on your minds that an education this day and time is one of the most important things than can take place in your future. It is almost mandatory in order to get a good position than will sustain you and a family if and when you have one. I have not had that experience but have read many books on how difficult it is to be employed without an education. There is nothing wrong with working as a common laborer but I do not believe there is anyone in this room that has plans to do that type of work as their lifetime career. An education will assist you in obtaining a good career even one as common labor. I do not feel that I will ever have the need to have the labor career to sustain my life’s ambition. My career has been made for me by having an unusual brain and sometimes I wish I was normal. A good satisfying career can be the same with each of you if you desire to seek it. You do not need to have a genius brain to get ahead but it does take hard work to get there and have the desire to obtain your diploma. I cannot tell you this is from experience as when you look at me you know that I have never had any experience what so ever in any type of work as I am just a little boy with an odd mental capacity. I have, however, read many books on all subject of life and what I feel will be of value to me when I do go out looking for a position to my satisfaction if I ever need to do so. As you can see that it will be years before I can do that and I will in the meantime do some other individual work and research in order to be of value to this world instead of waiting for it to all come to me. An education can do the same for you if that is your ambition and aim."

"The one thing I would have to watch out for is the child labor law. I can prove myself but can I depend upon politics to protect me? I think not and I am not counting on it. I feel that even now at my age I can do just as good at some research center as those who have been there for some time and probably much better. My only out is something like research since it takes no physical out put, just brain power and I have plenty of that available.

You, as individuals, can do the same thing as you get your college behind you and have the desire to force your self forward. Do not wait for something to fall into your lap. Just pick up your opportunities and place them in your lap and you will feel better for doing it and also have it in your heart that you will succeed because you have worked and earned it.

I am encouraging each of you to follow your hearts desire, your ambition and work to better yourself when it comes time for you to enter the work force. At least I hope that is your desire.

What I am saying is not from experience as I told you before but I have read so much information on what I am saying to you now. Make sure you are free of drugs, do not become an alcoholic, stay away from unsavory gangs, pick a partner that is not dangerous but one that is nice to be with and above all keep your integrity.

That is all I can say at this time. Remember you can if you want to regardless of what the desire is. Prepare yourself and never forget that it is seldom ever that you get something for nothing in life. Just also remember that I am not speaking from experience but from knowledge offered by many successful individuals who has put it all in writing a book.

I just wanted to get the point over to you that an education is your best bet even if you do want to do common labor as you could change your mind in the future.

Mr. Lambert, I did not know they were coming but I noticed that my entire family except the three who are in kindergarten is in the audience. I would like permission to have my father do their introduction to our audience. Our family is small and if we have time I would like him to introduce them to the students. If any student is in need of assistance there is not one of us who would refuse giving help if they can and if it asked for.

Mr. Long, please go ahead and let your father introduce your family. I know all the students will be like myself and desire to meet them. he said.

"Some of you might have been here long enough to remember my father, Dr. Jimmy Long when he spoke to this student body about 3 or 4 years ago. May I present my father, Dr. James Robert Long, Jr. He is also an attorney with an office in addition to his Medical Doctors office and he is also a psychiatric doctor. He is a Certified Public Account and the best part is that he is my father, Dad please stand and come here by me. Now that you are here would you please introduce our family members and do not forget to tell them what they have accomplished. If anyone gets bored please let us know.

"You now know that my son is really the boss in this family. You can see how he gives orders.

First, I would like you to meet my wife Mary. She is a medical doctor and practices medicine at the hospital in the medical center. Sweetheart will you please stand up? J R’s biological mother was murdered when the goons were trying to kill me and he was too young to remember his biological mother and only knows Mary as his mother.

After everyone cheered dad went on and said, "Next I want you to meet my mother, J R’s grandmother, Mary Irving. My mother is responsible for the building of the Medical Center located in this area. It is getting larger all the time. Mother please stand?

Next, please meet my father, Mr. Paul Irving. Since my biological father passed away some years ago he is now my father. Paul will you please stand? Paul has a long history as does his son who I will introduce next to keep them together. I love Paul as my father.

Gary and Maxine please stand. Dr. Maxine Irving is Gary’s wife and always calls me her son. Naturally I eat it up as she is one of my loyal backers in anything I try to do. Max practices medicine in the Medical Center Hospital.

Gary Irving is the one who really has a history. He is the foremost surgeon in the state of Arkansas and practices in the medical Center Hospital also. He is known all over Arkansas as well at times is called to treat patients in other parts of the U S because of his surgical ability. He was raised in foster homes until he graduated from high school and then served 4 years in the armed forces. He did not know he had a father until he was 22 years of age. Gary I hope you do not mind me telling them this as it is something to me and I love you. When his father found out he had a 22 year old son, he moved here from Oklahoma city to be with Gary as Gary was my guardian when I was a child of 8 going to college and Gary would not leave our family at that time because of me. My parents would not let me go to college by myself as a kid and anyone would know why. I loved Gary as my surrogate father all through college, Medical School, Law School even after we both became practicing medical doctors. I am so happy to have his father as my mothers husband and my father since my father is no longer with us.

Please meet my Aunt Joan and her husband Mr. Ted Stone. Aunt Joan is the originator and owner of the Nursing School that is located in the medical Center. My Uncle Ted owns the Security Service here in this area. He has protected me from the time I was 7 to the present time as I have been shot at, kidnapped and many other things and he and Gary are the ones I own my life to other than my mother since my father is dead.

The only other member of my family is my Uncle, Mr. Steven Stone, who just retired as a Major in the United States Army and owns the crime lab here in this area. Uncle Steve please stand?

We do not know if we have any other relations anywhere else. We are very close and seldom mix with others except business or just greetings unless they visit us. If people want to visit us we welcome them with open arms. We are not snobs and love company when they come. A little information on myself. I am the owner along with my Aunt Joan of the large hospital in the medical center in addition to other businesses.

May I extend to all of you an invitation to visit any of my family at any time if you desire. They will always make you welcome and enjoy visiting with you and so will I and my family.

To all of you who becomes eligible for a scholarship I have endowed a scholar fund to this high school so anyone can work for help in attending college. Just check with your school office.

I want to repeat again that if any of you have difficulty with cramming for a test just give us a call and any of us will assist you until we think you are able to pass the next test regardless of subject.

J R, I hope I have fulfilled your wishes describing our family. Thank you for allowing me to do the honors of telling them about us."

"Thank you Dad. I am glad that my father tried to acquaint you with my wonderful family. We are all nostalgic and it is apparent most of the time. Even up here now I feel so good about being able to talk to all of you and to have the backing of my entire family. I am still a little boy and cry at times too. With the permission of the principal I will be glad now to answer any questions you have. Just tell him you want to ask a question and he will give me the go sign to answer it. The answer may take time but I will give one anyway. It may not be what you expect but an answer will be there. Mr. Principal I am ready to be interrogated.

The suspense of waiting for the first question almost got to me. I was not nervous but was wondering if they were really curious about me. Also I am doubtful about every one here believing what I have said whether it be about their future or about me personally.

I was looking over the audience when a tall, lanky student stood up and raised his hand.

The principal said, You may give the speaker your question.

Mr. Speaker, my name is Raymond Sloan. I felt like I should be baby sitting you then when I started listening to what you were saying I knew you were what they said you were before you were half way through speaking. I believe in your sincerity and that you know what is going on in this world. I also believe you are capable of giving good advice. My question is, what do you do for amusement in order to get away from the books that you have probably read by the thousands as young as you are? Do you have a life other than seeking knowledge?

"Mr. Sloan, I do have a life. I have three cousins that were born in the same month that I was. They are not here so my father could not introduce them to you. They are in kindergarten now. We have been raised together and I enjoy my time with them even though I knew what was taking place in my mind by the time I was able to talk. Even now I still play with them and the hardest part is for me not to lord it over them as I do not believe they have realized what I have become in mentality. I play as they play and think that in the near future I am going to be isolated from them as they will look on me as a different person than the one they grew up with so far. I have a family that is so closely knitted that we seldom have any contact with outsiders except business. Our pleasure is being family. Do not get me wrong. We are not snobs. We love life and love people whether they are in our family or just friends but we still like the closeness of family life.

I do have a life outside of gaining knowledge. I cannot forget though that my body is not in cinc with my mind and at times I forget that I am only 6 years of age. It pains me when that takes place while I am with my cousins. I know that my life could be and is very complicated but I talk a lot to my father who also has a mind like mine and he tells me how he was raised with such a brain. I listen to him and feel that I know so much more than he does at this stage of our lives but I will always listen to his advice and know that he knows best especially about the changes that will take place in my body as I get older. My mental capacity is another story. My relationship with family and friends, I will confess, is that it would be real easy for me to become a smart aleck, know it all and a real snob. I feel if I ever did that then I would become a slob and not a snob. Isolation from family and friends is not for me at any time and I hope in the future my body remembers that as well as my mind.

I hope I have answered your questions and if not I will be happy to meet with you on a one on one basis and go through it again. Just set a time with my parents and we will get together. This invitation is also open for any student in the audience who would like to visit with me on these terms. My parent will be present but will not interfere in our conversation. Remember they will protect me physically but I can take care of myself mentally. I am not bragging when I say that either. That is where being a snob comes in handy I suppose but a person can be nice without being a snob.

As my father said during my off time I will be happy to tutor anyone having trouble with their lessons. Just consult with my parents and they will set a date and time. If it is an emergency please so state and we will get with you at once regardless of how busy we are. When I say that I can envision someone calling us up and say they have a test the next day and need help with being able to pass it. We will help you. That we will do also if you will come by.

Mr. Principal, I believe time is up and I will not be able to take any more questions even though I am thoroughly enjoying being here. I could stay and answer any other questions but time is the main factor now. Please accept my thanks and gratitude for being asked to speak to this audience. I have enjoyed every minute of it but I think now is the time to say good bye and thanks for being such a receptive audience. Maybe I will be able to visit with some of you students again in the future when I will have an adult body to go with my adult mind. I am available most of the time so if I can be of service to anyone just let me knows through my parents."

I waved good by to the audience and received a standing ovation which made me proud. My first speech was a success and I hope my future ones will be accepted as this one has been. I just might have made history as I know my father thought he had when he spoke to the audience in this same place when he was younger. I only wanted to make two points and I thought that was enough at this time. One point is take care of your mind and your body by watching out for the dangers of drugs, alcohol and other such things that will ruin you. The other point is just get an education.

Just as I sat down, Andrew said to the principal, Mr. Lambert, may I say something else, please?

Yes, Andrew, Please go to the podium. he said.

"Please excuse me for butting in but I just have to say this so you will know the type people that were introduced to you this morning.

One day when I was a senior here the principal called me into his office. I was scared to death as I could not figure out what I had done to be called on the carpet, so to speak. When I entered his office, shaking like a leaf, Mr. Lambert asked me if I wanted to go to college when I graduated. I was so stunned at such a question that I could not say a word and finally awakened and said that I wanted to but could not due to finances. He said that I just might have fallen into a lucky day and wanted me to meet with someone who might be able to assist me in getting an education. The person I met here in this building before he spoke to all of the students was my benefactor, Dr. James Robert Long. He was only about 20 years old then and looked like he was 15. Being just 4 years older than me I could not imagine how someone that young could help me get to college.

I want you to know that he did and had set up a scholarship plan that has assisted me to get to be a senior at the University and will get me my degree. Remember what he said about setting up a scholarship plan here at the school so if you earn a scholarship check into it. I was so numb in the principals office as he just kept talking and now I am so happy to be able to repay Dr. Long by being the guardian of his son as he attends college along with me. J R is the best tutor I ever expect to have even though his age of 6 does not fit into the picture. I just wanted you to know that the family of our speaker today, my college benefactor and the rest of those kin to him are the salt of the earth and if you ever needed any advice or aid please let them know and they will be right there.

After the audience was dismissed and we were out in the aisle I was inundated with questions, good luck wishes and seemed like a general thanks for making my appearance in this school.

Andrew came up among the crowd around me and said, It was wonderful the way you were accepted by the students. I remember your fathers speech and it was along the same lines as yours was. He was accepted in the same manner as what is taking place now with you. I hope none of you minded me saying what I thought of all of you up there.

Some of the students started asking Andrew questions when he finished talking with me. He said the same thing as I did and was available to anyone who desired to talk with him.

All in all it was such a gracious audience and like my father, nostalgia was getting the best of me with my little boy’s body against my old mans mind. I asked my parents to take me home as I wanted to recuperate from my good fortune of the day and that was my debut as a public speaker.

I did not know it until I saw them in the audience that all of my grown up family was present in that auditorium. I
