FOREWORD
This book is designed to help college students understand that there are two sides to college. In college you are supposed to, get good grades, graduate, and go work for the best company, organization, or business that will pay you the most money and give you the best benefits. That is only one side of college. The other side of college is increasing your knowledge about the world, exploring your talents and perfecting your craft. This can easily be done by having the right mindset from the beginning of your freshman year. If you think like an employee, you will act like an employee; always looking to be paid by someone else so that you can live a decent life. I was an employee once, but now I am an entrepreneur. However, I always have the choice of contracting with companies. By this I mean that I can always take a job working for someone, but I will never have to. This is how you create a market while stimulating the economy at the same time. A lot of times people are afraid to do this because of the risk in starting your own business; but those are the mindsets of either employees, or people who are afraid to do what comes easiest to them and expect compensation. Why do we forget that we can profit from just being ourselves? It’s simple! If you have taken the time to perfect your craft, then your talent becomes undeniable and then there is no risk. It only becomes a matter of time before the world realizes what you have to offer and then offer you money because they love your product or service, or their lives depend on it, or because they just can’t live without it! This is how all of the successful entrepreneurs made it. They don’t think about the risk, they simply work on the talents God has blessed them with until they are the best at what they do. At that point they have eliminated their competition. When and if competition arises, they simply make changes to what they have created, or market their product to where the competition no longer exists. The college degree you obtain is a means to show people your credibility and knowledge in the trade or craft that you have created or perfected. As you read this book you will realize things that you could have done or still can do, but just never took the time to act on the things you’ve thought about, or the talents you possess. Do not feel alone because I went through the same thing, which is why I chose to write this book: 2 SIDES 2 COLLEGE: HOW TO CREATE A MARKET IN 4 YEARS. It is my hope that you become just as inspired as I have and learn to do what you really enjoy while getting paid to do so.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Mr. Stanberry
—I would like to take this opportunity to thank God, all of my family members that have supported me in all of my endeavors, all of my grade school teachers, all of my college professors, all of the entrepreneurs around the world, and everyone that told me that I was crazy for thinking the way I do and that I would never make it. All of these people motivated me to do what I do today and why I am successful. A lot of times people never take the time to acknowledge those who played an important role in their lives, especially the negative people in their lives. However, this book is the proof that everyone; no matter if they were positive or negative, are important contributors in our success as human beings whether we realize it or not. It is important to examine and evaluate how people, places and things affect us so that we understand ourselves, each other and our futures.
