You Are Accepted - Carjamin Scott
Prologue
You are accepted,
are the three words that college applicants yearn to hear. If you attended or considered attending college, the application process is simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting. A person’s high school years is filled with defining moments that prepares them for college. Students worked diligently to pass their classes and earn exceptional grades. Many of them spent their summers visiting college campuses and took preparatory courses for the ACT or SAT.
In an effort to build their resume, students get involved in various extracurricular activities and complete several hours of community service. During their junior year, they apply to the colleges of their choice. Then, they submit their required transcripts, test scores, and perhaps a personal statement. Like most college hopefuls, they even provide letters of recommendation. Finally, their hard work has paid off!
As a senior, they celebrate as they receive their college acceptance letters. Everyone’s preparation is different, and every applicant has their own unique story. Although, being accepted has different meanings for each of us, being accepted gives each of us the freedom to leave an indelible impression on the world; no matter what area of life we desire to be accepted into.
I have experienced my fair share of failure and heartbreak, some of it was inherited, and some was self-inflicted. Remarkably, I still have a 100% success rate. I overcame unbelievable odds, and I felt compelled to tell my truth as I inspire others to embrace theirs. Regardless, of how dismal, painful, or difficult your life is or has been. Please understand, that sometimes even after we’ve been accepted and have opportunities to sit at the table, there will be moments when we are made to feel as if we will never be welcome or have a chance to sit at the head of the table. Thus, proper preparation is imperative.
This book applauds the individuals who are the firsts
in their family and also encourages those who desire to be the first.
Possibly, the first to move to a new city, attend college, get married, buy a home, or even the first to just believe in
