Chapter 1

The Wedding

Gram’s big wedding day had finally arrived, the weather was perfect, not scorching hot and not too windy, just perfect, my husbandAJ and I are giving her a big fancy wedding on the open ocean view land that he and his family owns. The land is going to soon be turned into a thirty home mansion with basketball, and tennis courts, a baseball field play areas, swimming pools, two huge ballrooms, a huge horse stable with lots of horses, spacious areas, and wonderful views of Mexico, I had seen the layout that my husband and his brothers are working on, they have a huge family and are very close, most are planning on living here others are paying to have a family vacation spot like we plan to do, but as of right now their parents live here in Morelos Mexico.

Pap had proposed to Gram over four years ago, but instead of tying the knot right away they decided to do some traveling first, Pap had signed up for a cooking convention traveling by a cruise ship spending a year on four different islands learning how to make their tropical dishes and learning their music and dances, Pap is a wonderful cook and retired chef. They bragged about them having the time of their lives. Gram and Pap met about six years ago and got engaged right away I guess they figured they weren’t getting any younger, Pap moved in with Gram after selling his house and soul food restaurant, Gram retired from her forty-four year position at the post office, they traveled to Jamaica, Trinidad, Turks and Caicos and now here in Mexico, so what better time for my husband and I to give them a wedding that Gram definitely deserved, she never had time for herself because she was always taking care of everyone else, she took me and my deceased cousin DeVaughn in because our mothers were on drugs, then once we were on our own she took care of my twin sons Kyierh and Kyreih from the time they were born until they were almost two years old while I did some time in jail for a conspiracy to a murder case, I did my time in jail finished on paper then escaped here to Mexico along with my husband, my right hand man Jeezy, our twin sons and our daughter Kingah with flashing lights in our rearview.

The happy couple said there I do’s, and Pap kissed his bride, it was so beautiful, the silver and white flowers were from Gazara family floral which is my husband and his families floral company, so yes the flowers were beautiful, I had did my thing and I was very pleased with the outcome of all of my preparations, the audience stood, applauded and welcomed the new married couple to the land, following the beautiful ceremony was a huge reception, the Gazara’s were a huge Latino family who loved to fiesta, Gram enjoyed herself and so did Pap, I had it catered, for appetizers there were shrimp, crab and lobster with dips and crackers being served on trays by servers there was also Champagne being served on trays by the servers as they walked around keeping the guest refreshed, for post appetizers we had a Mexican Dinner salad and some Chile Pablano Cream soup, for the main course we had Mexican spiced chicken and Teriyaki simmered beef tips, Spanish rice, steamed asparagus, Au Gratin potatoes, with wheat and white fresh bimbo bread and a beautiful strawberry drizzled Spanish mousse wedding cake. The children were running around with all of their cousins, I stood up to make the first toast, I said if everyone can raise their glass I would like to propose a toast to the new happy couple, Gram you are the best person that our creator has made, you have made me the woman I am today and molded those children into the little ones they are today, you have always gave and gave to your brother and sisters to my mother and Aunt Niecy and then to DeVaughn and myself, you deserve all the happiness that your heart can give and receive I pray that you and your husband stay well and can take your time enjoying each other, I hope that you two can and will be happy as my husband and myself are and from the looks of it Pap’s on the job, so to you Violet and Roger may you two be, in love and happy for as long as you two are in our creators eyes congratulations to the bride and the groom, Gram was so full of tears I’m sure from me including my deceased mother and cousin in my toast, I had tears of my own streaming down my eyes, AJ picked up his napkin and wiped my tears away, Uncle John stood next and said I would like to say something, Violet, I am not used to you being away from us this long or ever, it warmed my heart to see you so beautiful walk in today, we have been thru some tough times as a family and to see you glow with happiness is a wonderful sight, he looked at Pap and said thanks Roger, Pap smiled, Uncle John continued, Vi you should be proud of Kir Kir too, she has done wonderful for herself and her children, she gave you this fabulous wedding and always been my favorite, I chuckled, he said I know this is supposed to be a wedding toast but we all deserve this one, so this is to the Diamond’s salute, we all laughed and said salute.
