Dawn of My Next Decade

About this ebook
The book is a culmination of the authors life, vicariously learned lessons, and affairs of the heart. The voyage from early adulthood to mastering the 20s is displayed in this body of work. Each poem tells the authors story, whether as the main character, a co-star, an extra or simply a fly on the wall observing the external and internal occurrences of love and life.

Life is a Contradiction
Death and taxes are certain,
every thing else is gray matter.
Highs, lows, good times and bad;
tears and laughter.
Good girls gone bad;
bad boys turned good.
From the projects to the Palisades;
Melrose to the hood.
Republican but liberal;
a conservative democrat.
Social services to aid the poor.
The rich not in support of that.
America yet a nation divided
Thirteen stars to fifty states.
Poor people can’t afford to live
Healthcare debate.
Pro athletes breaking records
Steroids flow in their bloodstream.
Loved and adored by the fans
Black-balled by the team.
Light-skin, red-bone, mulatto, creole
Good hair; nap free
Tragic mulatto, master’s mistress, house nigga
