About this ebook

The Turning Year
This ones for the records.
2009 has been a complex novel,
from the prosaic Chapter One,
all the way to Chapter Twelve,
where I, the protagonist,
is left wondering why it all went down
the way it did.
In the opening pages of January,
how could I have ever known
that in two months time
Id meet the girl of my dreams,
and feel her, touch her in ways
I never thought possible?
How could I have known
that this connection would happen,
fulfilling my urges, yet at the same time
signing the order of execution
on the heart of someone who had only committed the crime
of trusting me?
But soon I lost them both,
left them hating me
and wanting to be rid of me.

    THE TURNING YEAR

    NORMAL, OR NOT?

    All the years,

    forget the fears,

    take what you can get.

    Close the doors

    to all the whores,

    forget the past, that’s it.

    I found a girl

    that domed my world,

    my heart she would protect.

    But the lack of intimacy

has bore a hole in me,

gasping for air that is sex.

    I’ve settled into mundane

    but I’m content.

    I found some safe terrain,

    I took the hints.

Years over I’ve lived this life,

the same, the usual, the steady,

    holding on to my Kimberly.

    The countless nights,

    ridiculous fights,

    the hours asleep in bed.

    Hoping for rain

    to ease the pain

wonder like locusts inside my head.

    A sweet repose,

    I sometimes supposed

the haven I’d known is best.

    But that won’t help

    to make the squelch

on the beating inside my chest.

    Acceptable stagnation,

    overwhelmed imagination,

my brain like the inside of a brothel.

I live life the same old way,

content with what will fill the days,

but soon I’ll do something awful.

    HAIKU #1

    Another night in her bed,

A place I love to be,

    And wishing I was
