Lacy’s Story
Chapter 1
The Beginning
Here I am once more looking up at the beautiful sunset Alone. I always come here to get some Peace of mind, which is not very often. I am 35 years old married to a man named Kirk we have been married 10 years.
We got married young we thought we were ready. The first 4 years went great but things just went downhill from there. I don’t know if it was me or Kirk?
Our life together didn’t feel like a life at all.
Kirk became a heavy drinker and he was not nice he was evil when he drank. That’s when the abuse started I would have to put makeup on the bruises so no one could tell what a monster he really was. I would take pain pills because I couldn’t stand the pain.
Maybe the news that I couldn’t have children had something to do with it. It was hard for me to except it but I had to.
Kirk really wanted children as I did, but he came to grips with it. He didn’t change then it was about 2 years later.
He would come and go as he pleased. Kirk got physical start slapping me around then it got to hitting. He started drinking a lot being out all the time, then comes home and treats me like shit. Why would you treat someone you love like that? He would beat me when it was good for him but you know I allowed it I let him do it to me.
It’s my fault doing nothing about it.
What is wrong with me? Do I have a brain in my head?
I don’t know how long I can take this yes I admit I am far from perfect I smoke pot you no weed helps me get through the days and the pain a little easier. That is not an excuse it helps me deal with every fucked up thing in my life. I’d rather smoke pot then be on something worst.
Maybe one day I’ll have the courage to stop.
But I can’t, not now!
It’s the only thing that is keeping me sane.
This sunset is beautiful, the reds and oranges are beautiful the reflection of the lake. I remember coming down here with my mom and dad when I was young. We had so much fun, we would stay for hours. Mom would make a picnic for us. We would swim and play water games. I miss those happy times, I miss them so much.
I lost my parent’s 3 years ago. They died in a car accident a drunk driver hit them they died instantly the person was never found. I miss them so much and the great times we had together. Lacy start crying just thinking of them. They told me Kirk was wrong for me, I should of listened.
Lacy sat on the white pebble beach feeling the water coming up and touching her toes and looking at the sunset while finishing her joint.
LACY! LACY! Where in the hell are you? A voice was yelling.
Oh Shit he’s back.
Lacy stood up and turned.
There you are thinking of hopeless dreams and oh yes don’t forget the dope!!
At least I’m not a fucked up Alcoholic! Lacy yelled at Kirk.
Shut your mouth you have nothing to say when it comes to me understand!
Kirk was starting to lift his hand to hit her.
Lacy reached down and picked up a sharp piece of drift wood.
Go ahead Kirk hit me and I will kill you on the spot.
Kirk saw a side of Lacy he hadn’t seen in years.
Lacy walked by Kirk.
I’m going up to the house.
Lacy was shaking in her boots but she didn’t want Kirk to see it she had to play it calm.
He would love to see her all upset no more.
Kirk just stood there shocked.
She walked up the path to the house.
Lacy loved that house all the great memories. It’s a beautiful house.
The house has been in the family for years. It was white and the prettiest yellow there were two white pillars on each side of the double front doors. It has a balcony that go’s around the whole house. Hi ceilings, crown molding and pure oak stairways. A fireplace in every bedroom!
And such a homey feeling!
I did feel very safe here
