Demetrius S. Brown

Demetrius S. Brown, Vietnam veteran and a Philadelphia, PA. native was the first-born among his 4 other siblings. A Bartram High school student, he decided to skip his last year, took the G.E.D. exam to secure his equivalency and literally ran to the nearest U.S. Navy recruiting station. There, he studied and learned a trade as airframes mechanic and continued in that capacity, serving on the U.S.S Ranger, an aircraft carrier, until rejoining the civilian community. 1974 saw his first real opportunity to learn a new trade; automotive electrical systems with a major auto center. Due to his naval airframes background, he was selected as candidate for a supervisory position in the auto-electrical dept, and upon completion and certification from the company’s technical training center, was placed in one of the auto-service centers in Los Angeles, Calif. After 10 years, he moved to Oakland, Calif. for a fresh start and lived there happily for the next 15 years. It was in Oakland he began to like the freedom of movement doing many different jobs, more for the “something new or different” aspect than any need for work. In 1999 Finding he was good at making money in turning menial jobs into consistant businesses, he continued to expand his odd-job experience and has been able to live comfortably, learning valuable small job techniques and quick money making ventures.

    Introduction

Most of the ventures listed in the following pages will actually cost around $10.00 to get started. Many are a revisit to some of the old, simple money-making ideas, we all as kids, or teenagers used at one time or another to earn extra money for the week-end. There are a few new ones since then of course, and there are a few ventures obviously for older teens or adults only. Most of these one-man ventures are based around curb painting. It’s the doorway to all 9 other options listed.

These are difficult economic times for a lot of people. Some of us face added hardships unless we somehow supplement our income by a few hundred extra bucks a month or a week. Yet, how to do so without incurring ridiculous start-up cost or a substantial investment in time and equipment, or worse, having to pick-a second job, even if it’s part-time. If you are an adult or teen who wants to earn extra cash, and do not have a problem with going door-to-door, then give me 16 hours of your time. This is designed to be a temporary source of income as long as the season last or until you call it quits. I have
