DIARY OF A STUDIO POTTER

JOURNAL ENTRY 9

Hello again! I’m writing this diary on what is the hottest day of the year so far. The sun is cracking the flags, and it’s already sweltering at 8am! It’s a struggle to ensure that my work dries slowly and evenly in this heat, and I hope that you have not suffered too many pottery losses. It’s less than a week until our children finish school, and I take a three-week break from the studio. It has been a frenetic month, which started with our open studios and summer exhibition and culminates today with our end-of-year garden party for my students. It’s exactly four years since I established my business, and what a roller coaster that has been. Today will be a celebration for many reasons, but mainly because pottery has brought so many lovely people into my life.
