About this ebook

A Practical Guide for Support Worker in Home Setting describes some delegated procedures which currently are performed often by unregulated care providers (PSW and HCA) in community and home setting. These procedures are included: intermittent catheterization of urinary bladder, monitoring blood glucose level, administering insulin, promotion oxygenation, etc. These procedures are performed also by regulated healthcare professionals (RN, RPN). Some delegated procedures performed by PSW and HCA separately or together with regular home support work (showering, dressing, walking assistance, etc.) can significantly reduce the total time and cost of nursing and support service in home setting.

    Dedication

I dedicate this Guide to all Personal Support Staff of Saint Elizabeth Health Care (SEHC) whose hard work, positive attitude, helpful, and dedicated treatment of the clients I greatly appreciate.

I owe most of my skills, experience and achievement to SEHC where I have worked since 2002. SEHC was established in 1908, and Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) was established in 1898. At present time both of these agencies are leaders in the health care industry of Canada and SEHC has over 7000 employees
