Through a Daughter’S Eyes: The Samuel “Dock” Pollard Story
()
About this ebook
Through a Daughters Eyes explains this phrase well. It is a dynamic story written by a daughter explaining the struggles her father endured in order to accomplish his success. It tells what a wonderful man he was, how his vision became his reality, how his legacy should live on, and how he had to deal with his "church" folks! This book paints a vivid picture of how God fought his battles just by trusting in Him, believing in His word, and keeping the faith. This is a MUST read!
In this book, you get a glimpse of the man who devoted his life to God, his family, his church, and his life. You see a man who has touched the lives of so many and a legacy that should not be forgotten. You witness the pain he went through.
Through a Daughters Eyes is an expression of pure love of a daughter to the memory of her late father. It is a testimony to the life of Pastor S. D. Pollard. This is a great, inspirational read that will make you laugh, cry, and, above all, remember God is...

About the author: Sharran Pollard always enjoyed reading and writing as a child. She became an educator in the Manatee County School System. She went on to forward her education in Ed. Leadership from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. Through a Daughter’s Eyes is her first memoir that tells the story of her father’s hardships throughout his lifetime and how he overcame these struggles to become a prominent, successful Baptist pastor of Mt. Raymond Full Gospel Baptist Church, one of the largest African American churches in Southwest Florida. This story tells how his vision became his reality. When Sharran is not in somebody’s mall shopping, she’s most likely mentoring children or spending family time with her mother, Versia, her “special” friend, Des, and their spoiled dogs, Sa’Jia and Diego. About the Author
In loving
memory of my dad
"Pastor S. D. Pollard"
who departed this life on
June 1, 2011.
I dedicate this book to my loving mother,
Versia Pollard
and to my beautiful sister,
Sandra Washington,
both of whom I love very much.
Foreword
I applaud the publication of your wonderful book about your dad, Pastor Pollard. It’s a good reminder of keeping others abreast on the wonderful things he has done. He was truly a man of God
, who loved the Lord with all of his heart. He touched people’s hearts with his kind mannerism, wonderful words of wisdom, prayers, and his beautiful
smile.
He loved the poem, If
by Rudyard Kipling. He always recited his favorite lines in the poem to me. This is a powerful poem, and I understand why it was his favorite, it’s one of my favorite poems, too! It went something like this:
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk to wise;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds worth of distance run-
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And- which is more-you’ll be a Man my son!
What a wonderful way to keep his spirit alive! Just the name Pollard is well respected throughout various parts of the world. I admired his humor, Look good, feel good, and smell good!
I can still vision his smile as he said it! The world needs more positive men like Pastor Pollard. I know he is very proud of you, he’s always been. Thank you for sharing with us the gift that you have worked so hard to refine. I trust your book will soon be on the best seller list. I pray God’s blessings upon you and your mom. Be Blessed!

Introduction
Three years ago on June 1, 2011 (just two days before his birthday) was one of the worst days of my life. I received a call telling me my father was dying and to come quick. When my mother called and all she said was, I think you should come to the hospital now.
I knew.
I was at work, but I got in the car with Ms. Wanda Floyd, who was driving, and my cousin, Carolyn Wilson. They flew to the hospital with me in the backseat.
Ms. Floyd’s speedometer needle was buried in the dashboard. I arrived only to be met at the doorway by my Aunt Reva, who told me as gently as she knew how, that I had just missed him. This is one of the few regrets in my life that I wish I could go back and change. I knew the end for him was close, but not that close.
Standing over this frail body that once was my Father; I truly started to realize what I had just lost. I lost my best friend and confidant in my life. I would miss him in ways I had yet to even consider. I am not ashamed to admit I still talk to him and seek his advice. I find myself saying, What would Daddy do?
Many times I can feel him near and
