Special Acknowledgments
I like to give special thanks to my parents who taught me to love, respect, and to make God a priority in my life. If it were not for my loving parents Missionary Altha Mae Lovings and the late Elder Walker Lovings Sr. I do not know where I would be today, but thank God for loving and godly parents.
I especially thank God for my wonderful husband and pastor, Superintendent Memvis Jaye Hale Sr. for being my biggest supporter. As always, praying and keeping me lifted up before God and always encouraging me to reach for the stars and to aim high. I deeply appreciate my children: LaShundra, Jasmaine, Sharmaine, and Justice for all of their love and support. I would not have made it thus far without my awesome church family (God’s Way Church of God in Christ) and the Bountiful Houston District, for always supporting me physically, spiritually, and financially. I thank God for the individuals who keep me lifted up in prayer and encouraged, my son Elder Jared Hale and his wife, Missionary Rochea Hale. I thank God for my best friend, spiritual sister, and outstanding women’s coordinator, Evangelist Missionary Sherrall Hobbs. We have laughed, cried, and prayed together! She has inspired and encouraged me to write from my heart. And to all of you who have taken time out of your busy schedules to share a part of your life with me. Please accept my sincere gratitude!
Preface
This book is written to encourage God’s people to look up and know that God is a present help in a time of trouble and that he is real. It is also written to remind saints everywhere that good people have bad problems. Real problems do exist! Many individuals believe that they cannot endure life hardships. That is what the enemy wants you to believe, but we are more than conquerors. God has provided a wealth of resources for his people! God has always provided for his children. He assures us in his word that he will never leave us nor forsake us. We are overcomers with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are victorious!
No matter what a child of God goes through in life, we must always remember that we have the victory. We have the victory over problems, situations, disappointments, and heartaches. It does not matter what obstacles an individual may encounter in life, he or she is going to make it with God’s help. If Christ is for us, he is more than the world against us.
As Christians, it is a good thing to take everything to God in prayer. God loves us unconditionally and wants to heal us everywhere we hurt. He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, and the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).
Introduction
Obstacles are barriers, hurdles or stumbling blocks that prevent a person from succeeding in life. Many times in life, we are faced with problems and situations that are beyond our control. What do you do? Glad you ask! Look unto the hills from whence cometh your help, because all of our help cometh from the Lord (Psalms121: 3). God wants his people to prosper and to be in good health, even as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2). When faced with obstacles do not fret or give up because God is a present help in a time of trouble (Psalms 46:1). Whatever obstacles a Christian go through God will deliver. Obstacles slow us down and keep us from achieving those things the Almighty God wants us to achieve.
Job is a prime example that God will help us to overcome whatever obstacles we may endure in life. The Bible reminds us that Job was a perfect and upright man, one that feared God and refrains from doing evil. He was the father of seven sons and three daughters. Job was a very wealthy man! He was bountiful in cattle, and his household was considered to be great. Like many of us, one day Job was faced with various barriers, hurdles and stumbling blocks. He lost it all; his children, cattle, and his health was under attack. God gave Satan permission to try his servant Job. Satan accepted the offer, after replying I will attack everything that he has, and he will curse you to your face (Job 1:11). Job continued to trust God, and because of his faith and obedience, his latter-days was greater than his beginning.
If we live long enough, all of us will face obstacles, but we have to rely on God’s word to see us through. God will never put more on us than we can bare! Stay in the race because trouble does not last always. Many times we feel like life is unfair! We pray and study God’s word, and try to be an example in trying times. It appears every time we make one step; something causes us to make two-step backwards. I encourage you to hold on to God’s unchanging hand, because whatever we need our God has got it. I am a witness that he will dry your weeping eyes, give you joy in the place of sorrow, and make the enemy leave you alone. Whatever the problem, hurt, pain or discouragement, God can heal you everywhere you hurt.
