About this ebook

This third collection of poetry by Ms. Versella speaks loudly of her love of words. Its about a boy who unfurled the closed up petals of her heart again. A song to a society she is always internally at war with. It is her search for spirituality. It is a battle cry. These few wild stanzas are the etchings of her soul tattooed upon her flesh. Magic through lead and ink. May these words glitter before you like a comet across the night sky.

    Dedication 9/15/2014

To the artists: you rebels and misfits; the magicians of the world

May you wield your pencil swords of lead and forever create beauty from your pain

Make this world better than you received it.

    Turn the darkness into light

    Alive With Ink

    I just want to write

I want to bleed my soul

    Over all these pages

    Messily

    Stains across white pages

That can’t wipe up the mess

    Fast enough

    To bleed profusely

The words I so desperately need

    Read me

I am open for you only

    Read me

I’ve been writing for you a story

    In a language

    I think only you

    Could finally understand

    Yes I want to write

    I want to be written

    And read

    The dead

    Soul awakens

    Only to shed

    The tissue of the heart

    The old words

    And phrases

    That the author locked up

So you think you found my key?

    Then come alive with me

    Watch me come alive

While I bleed out my ink.

    Hearts Are Wild Creatures,

That’s Why Our Ribs Are Cages

    40625.png

There’s a beast inside of me

    Clawing to get out

    Her nails are scratching

    She’s kicking and bucking

    She’s rattling the bones

    Ribcage walls

    Shaking

    Knees are knocking

    Quaking

Ready to tear it all down

    To run until ragged

    Through the forests

    Of your early waking hours

    To leave bite marks

Where her tongue and lips trailed

Little road maps to your lungs

    Say my name

    The guttural sound

    In another language

One that doesn’t need these nouns

    And open my windows

    And doors

    And open my soul

I will bleed rivers of ink

I will sail the waves of your brain

    Until I sink

    What’s igniting here

Is far too large to shrink

    To be downsized

    Or compromised

    To fit between these

    Drawn out lines
