About the Author
To Parents and Teachers:
For Robin and Amy, who know a tough dog when they see one; for Nick and Sharee, who delight in special dogs of all shapes and sizes; and most of all, for Arrow, who taught us all about belonging. If Jimmy could really talk, he would call Arrow the best four-legged dog ever.

Jimmy sighed, as he watched two dogs romp on the floor outside his cage. He dropped his head on his empty food bowl. He closed his eyes and dreamed he was running at the head of a pack in a big, grassy field.
His keeper always told him, "I can’t let you out of your cage to play because you could get hurt.
