    A Note from the Author

T his unique work is being published in English nearly thirteen years after it made its first appearance in Odia, an Indian Language. Nivedita has put her every possible effort in translating the work into English as I felt the urgency of my findings to reach the global readers. I am sure the book’s purpose will remain intact while bridging the trans-language verbal differences. My blessings are with her for this uphill task.

    Preface

T he Presence of astral bodies has been the curiosity of many a people; some believe in their existence while others refute them telling that they are no more than a figment of a weak mind’s imagination. Only cowards can give such logic, while in the depths of utter dark nights those so called brave-hearts feel a shiver down their spines even at the mere sound of an owl’s flight, leading to high fever.

In Indian villages, fights between sister-in-laws is a commonplace occurrence and with the intention of just scaring the other sister-in-law, one of them makes a sound which sends the person into raptures of a shivered-shake. People think she is possessed by a spirit and then the local clairvoyant is called to ward it away and is paid a handsome amount of money .The question here is getting horrified or scared might be true but which spirit the clairvoyant drives away still remains a mystery.

I still remember that in those good old childhood days when my grand-mother told me stories of the village graveyard, where lights of witches were seen and how I reacted then, brings a smile on my face now. Granny told me how our ancestors had received the prestigious title of ‘Paramaguru*’, i.e. advisor to the majesty Gajapati* and how had a family of plenty-of wealth and land, elephants and horses, servant, maids and hand-maids. Those servants had become so loyal and trustworthy that even after their death they continued to work as watch-keepers of the household. She remembered her young days as the daughter-in-law of the household when during late night she saw two umbrella-shaped lights emerging from a particular place and returning to the same just before dawn. Her mother-in-law had informed her that those lights were the loyal maids of the house, ‘Sunei’ and ‘Rupei’ who never wanted to leave their master’s home.

My grandmother’s father-in-law was Fakir Samantara*(my great-grand father), who was a great sadhaka*. Apart from writing epics and poems, he practiced Tantra-sadhana* and knew the art of taming spirits and curing diseases.

I have heard from people about his fame and the people’s love and good-will that he had earned in the his time. Our family had a strong financial status but as people say due to my great-great-grand-father’s practices of taming spirits, once he incurred the wrath of an evil spirit that led to his downfall.

Although I do not believe these tales but my granny told me that his last life was spent in dire poverty. All these stories of spirits, fame and wealth have always amazed me.

As a child I always queried about what are these astral beings or spirits? Where do they live? Do they really trouble us? Do they scare us? Why at all have they become spirits? But never did I find a suitable, rational reply to my endless questions. I have never accepted anything blindly without proof and rationality. That is the reason why I often visited graveyards to meet the spirits but to no avail. This search of childhood gained momentum with years and finally a point came when I did not believe in the science of sprits. I thought people say such things just for fun of it without an ounce of truth in their stories.

But there comes a turn in life when one’s own experiences leads one to accept certain things and then circumstances force one to tell them to others. That’s what exactly happened in my case. My circumstances led me to get introduced to the world of astral beings, at the same time explore, experiment and discover facts about them.

However, with flow of time the same discoveries became a common- place occurrence for me. From 1975-1979,I faced a lot of difficult and complex situations regarding the world of astral beings, yet the best part was that I was able to negate old theories and findings, paving way for new. I was also able to offer a new path with proofs from my own experiences. My experiments and experiences made me a strong man.

As far as writing this book is concerned, it involves the encouragement, inspiration and the thirst for knowledge of my beloved friends that finally made me put my experiences in a book for all those seekers of truth out there.

I have written my encounters and experiences for the people to delve deep for newer experiments and if any seeker comes up with newer theories and knowledge that would fill me with immense pleasure as there is no limit to knowledge, yet if the newer findings become more inward and helps in the wisdom of the soul then that would be more a divine bliss for me.

    THE REVELATIONS

    Chapter 1

    Soul and the Secrets

W hat is soul? This particular question’s answer may be known to all yet in bits and parts, not the entirety .The scientific explanation to the soul has been beautifully portrayed in the Vedas *, Upanishads * and Gita *. Yet they are not so simple for the common public who want to know more about the soul. Our one of the most loved and popular slokas * from the Bhagavat Gita is

    "Basansi jirnani jatha bihaya

    Nabani grihnati naranparini

    Tatha sarirani bihaya jirna

    Nynyani sanjati nabani dehi"

    (Gita—2/22)

Which states that as a human being discards old clothes and wears new ones so also the soul who uses the human body just as a garment, sheds it away as it becomes old and unusable and takes up another new body for its use. Many a people who love the Bhagavat Gita simplify these verses to explain the common public of the immortality of soul, yet the question here is, whether the same people follow the principle of using their body just like a garment. Take for example a particular cloth that we are using and in course of six months it wears off, so we discard it, but the memories of the same apparel still continues to live with us. But if our body is the attire of our soul, then when the soul discards it for a new one, why doesn’t it remember anything of the previous dress? Infact it is quite impossible for human beings to recollect any single incident about their previous birth. Another popular sloka from the Bhagavat Gita fills-up with hopelessness, although why the speaker of Gita spoke, that is another thing altogether, yet readers get confused, the verse is

    "Aabyaktadina bhutani byakta madhyani bharataha

    Aabyakta nidhananyiba tatraka paribedana"

    (Gita—2/28)

Which states that during the life-time of a man, the soul is manifested and its nature is known, whereas the previous conditions of the soul before a life and the future state of the soul after a life time is unknown to man as the memories of these two stages don’t stay with the soul when it takes a new body. Even the speaker of Gita only mentions these two states but doesn’t explain anything regarding the same. Similar instances have been quoted in ‘The Bhagawat*’ like that of ‘The Bhagavat Gita’ Where at the time of death, the self thinks of another body. Moreover, according to the good and bad karma of the soul, its elevation or degradation is determined. Even the Puranas* like, Suryapurana and Markandaye purana depict about the soul’s spirit form and how the god of death Yama’s messengers chain the soul to his court for justice. And according to the virtuous karma the soul is awarded with the pleasures of swarg (heaven) or bad Karma and is sent to narak (hell), even the two messengers of the god of death are named as Kala* and Bikatala* who perform the duty of binding the soul in chains, to produce it in the final court of justice. Similar examples can also be found in Padma Purana. Apart from the beliefs of the Hindus, many other religions of the world have their own interpretations about the soul after death. Some faiths have the belief that the soul is reduced to ashes, some consider it to journey inside the earth, some think that they journey towards space and dissipate and still others trust the spirit form. The faith of Christianity is also quite beautiful and interesting regarding the state of soul after death. Almost all the religions of the world believe in the existence of the spirits after death, as well as reincarnation. Many regions of the world have their own legends regarding those astral bodies.

Whatever it may be the very idea of astral beings as spirits raise curiosity in both atheists and theists. In this part of the book, I have tried to pen down my own experiences and different Atma (soul), Jiva atma(living being), Preta-atma (spirit) and Para-atma (supreme soul). I feel if the readers utilize my work for more research, I shall be gratified.

    1-Parambramha(Supreme Cosmic Consciousness)

The entire world, the cosmos or the creation is filled with Bramha or the Supreme Cosmic Energy. Every atomic particle from the microcosm to the macrocosm in the universe contains the same cosmic consciousness of the Param-bramha and is filled with the same supreme energy and consciousness, that which is immutable, intransient and omnipresent. The Supreme Cosmic Consciousness or the Prarambramha has no shape. He whom the Upanishads depict as,

    "Purnamadam Purnat purna Mudochyate

    Purnasya Purnamadaya Purnameba Bashisyate"

He is the entirety, He is present everywhere and is full, deviation and separation from the eternal fullness is impossible, He is ever filled with the same supreme cosmic energy devoid of any void.

The entire cosmos reflects but only the same supreme consciousness. From the yogis to the rishis*, from the Gods to the angels, for everyone of them, the knowledge of the Parambramha is still a quest.

    The Upanishads* describe Him as,

"Anejadeka manasojabiya nainadebamakshnu bana purbmarshat tadnadhabato nanyathatotitisthet

    tasminnapo matarishwa dadhati"

‘He who is unmoving and yet swifter than mind, that the Gods reach not for it remains ever in front. That, standing, passes beyond others as they run. In that the master of life establishes all. The one stable lord and the multiple movements are identified as one Brahma of whom however, the unity and stability are the higher truth and who contains all as well as inhabits all.’

He at the same time is non-attached, desire-less, unrestricted, and infinite, beyond intellect and thought, without form and colour. He whom the eyes cannot seize and speech cannot grasp, he who is unthinkable, he who shines and yet is subtler than the subtlest. He whom the yogis meditate upon and enter into that realm of purified glad serenity of wisdom and in meditation beholds the Supreme Cosmic Consciousness. And yet all these descriptions fall short in depicting that universal truth, the power beyond the cosmos, impossible to establish Parambrahma in few lines of this finite written document.

    Paramatma (The Supreme Soul)

The reflection of the Supreme Cosmic Consciousness-the Parambrahma is the Supreme Soul or Paramatma. The divine cosmic play is but the play of that Paramatma who like the Paramabrahma is omnipresent. Yet many confuse them to be one, which is not true as the Paramatma is the basis of the play of creation, the very cosmos, the innumerable galaxies and universes that are visible and invisible are but a play of that divine cosmic energy-Paramatma from whom the two facets of duality in creation begin with

Purusha (the masculine aspect of Paramatma) and Prakriti (The feminine aspect of Paramatma).

Purusha (The Masculine Aspect of Paramatma)

The invisible divine cosmic play of the Supreme Soul or the Paramatma is Purusha. He is the life-force in every being, from micro-organism to the macro, from insects to moths, from plants to trees and creepers, from birds, beasts, animals to human beings; each of them has the same life-force within, without which the being is but a dead-body. This masculine aspect of Paramatma, Purusha
