Flying Monkeys and Dancing Chickens
Welcome to my sincere, personal, life testimony and journey, as I, Elizabeth Storres, unveil extreme tragedy in the form of emotional and physical abuse from an alcoholic father and a life, starting at six years old, of the silent thief, Multiple Sclerosis, that tried to steel my healthy mother from me and my brother, Jonathan.
As a little child, I never knew anything else except extreme poverty, drunkenness and physical helplessness, for my mother, my brother, even my dad and last but not least, me, Elizabeth. The tragedies that loomed over us were like that of sticky, black tar fog, which I now call Flying Monkeys
.
As our daily toxic Flying Monkeys
seemed to try to wipe our family off the face of the earth, years later still deeply scarred wounds of these memories, bring forth in me, tears of great pain.
After, somehow, reaching sweet seventeen, I made a decision, that actually could have in the years to come, suck me out of this world and into the very pits of Hell. That decision was to marry a man named Murrey, in high hopes, of shedding the ongoing ugliness, of my then present, young life. I was actually making a flying leap from a very scolding frying pan to the unquenchable fire of his Hell, trying desperately to escape my families’ poverty and sickness.
Being married for eleven years, I lived with little or no love until God the Father gave to me a beautiful gift, that being Jesus Christ, who actually Saved me, supernaturally, from physical death.
As the Grace and Love of God, that the Father is, my life’s sour situation made a 180 degree turnabout the moment I asked Jesus Christ
into my heart and life!
Remember, we all do
have a choice to make; that choice being life or death?
Twenty four years ago, I chose life
and now I believe I am called to tell my true amazing story. At times it is quite disturbing and at other times it is nothing short of miraculous!
As you search these revealing pages, may God the Father, supernaturally lead, guide and bless you abundantly!

Flying Monkeys and Dancing Chickens
The world keeps turning, people die and babies are born. Many people, around the world, consider the birth of a child a true miracle. Only God knows for sure how a tiny seed can produce something so alive and complex. When one is born the end of the journey is surely dying. As many people can testify, sometimes we are given a second chance at life and living. Daily as we journey there are things that are not so great and at times things that are wonderful. Now the not so good
things could be called flying monkeys
and the very good things could be called "dancing chickens. I’ve had my share of both, as has everyone, around the globe.
Looking into a person’s heart and mind you will find a multitude of pages, many chapters and finally a unique book that will amaze you.
As a born again
believer, I, Elizabeth, would like to take you on a journey that will give you some insight as to whether or not you believe in Flying Monkey’s and Dancing Chicken’s
. You be the judge.
First I would like to inject that in no way, shape or form is this book meant to disrespect or dishonor any person mentioned. I believe people are put in our lives for a reason, season or perhaps just a fleeting moment.
This story is meant to be my testimony of God’s miracles or dancing chickens
that through constant prayer, faith and trusting, God, overcome life’s numerous treacherous negative hurdles, Flying Monkey’s
. With Jesus in our hearts, minds and souls, we as believers can and do overcome obstacles and are many times rescued, sometimes even from deaths door, therefore Saved
. We all have an eternity to someday fulfill and from what my journey through life has taught me, I choose to fulfill my eternity in the City of Heaven.
Chapter 1
March 1957
As you can see, I was born quite a long time ago, into a family of German decent. I arrived in the old
hospital in this small southern Alberta city. My parents, Gertie and Lenard, farmed just out of a small community some thirty miles away. The fact that my mother has conceived a child at-all was perhaps my first dancing chicken
, as my parent’s had been married a full eight year’s before my precious birth took place.
My mother, at the age of fourteen, had been hospitalized with a ruptured appendix. She almost died from the poison in her body and after a six month hospital stay in the hospital her young body slowly regained a measure of health. The doctor informed her parents that she may never be able to conceive a child. Little did the doctor know that Jesus
was in the mother and father of that young fourteen year old and Miracle’s
do happen
.
My Mom and Dad were raised in the same farming community and met at a country dance. Following a short courtship they were married. Having come from a God loving home it was hard to reconcile why my Dad began to smoke and drink. Although Gertie was very hurt by her husband’s drunken spree’s, she remained extremely calm and quiet, always considerate, she just kept on doing her best to cope with the drinking and the poverty, then, and for many years to come.
Chapter 2
Our little family lived on the farm for the first month of my life, but then came a big decision to move the city
, for then the Storres family moved to a basement suite in the city. My parents must have thought life would be better and easier for all of us in a larger community. Life went on and life was mostly good. My dad drove big truck’s, my mom cleaned a motel, while, I just grew, played and one great day learned to tie my own shoelaces.
Sometimes on hot summer days, two of my aunts would walk to our house bringing with them ice cream to share and enjoy. That was so much fun and a rare treat. Our house was on the crest of a very large hill and on those hot summer days my swimming hole was a big round, metal bucket in the front yard. In my three year-old innocence, there was many a day I would role down that hill giggling all the while, only to drop, about two feet, onto the sidewalk below.
Amazingly, there were no cracked or broken bones in this crazy event. I was also very proud to be able to put one leg, at a time, behind my neck. Ouch! I guess you could say I was somewhat bendable.
At three year’s old, my dad would play a little game with me. Mom in her chair and dad in his, both in the small living room, would get quite entertained, as my dad would ask me to go back behind his chair into a dark kitchen, to retrieve his cigarettes. As I was inside the very dark, windowless kitchen, my dad would then proceed to exclaim, strongly and loudly, that the boogie-man
was going to get me! With extreme fear and anxiety, I would turn around and as fast as my little legs would take me, flee back into the light and the safety of my parent’s presence! This sometimes went on for what seemed a very long time. Even at three years old, I wanted to be a pleaser
and helpful
. Not once did my dad or mom ever think that this little game
would be a source of fear, for me, for the rest of my life.
Through the years, my dad just kept on drinking, it didn’t get better and it didn’t get worse. It was just always there. Of course at three, I was clueless about such things.
For my fourth birthday, mom and I shared a beautifully decorated cake. My mom’s birthday was the day after mine and for many years to come we celebrated together. At the age of four, we got our first black and white TV set. Wow! We enjoyed it so much together in that little basement suite, where we stayed until I was five.
Chapter 3
1961 – Mom, dad and I were on the move again, this time to another basement suite, but on the S.W. Hill, closer to the schools. Little did this small family know of the new and quite tragic, events that were about to unfold.
In 1963 I started school, made new friend’s on the block and learned to ride a two-wheeler, banana seat, streamer’s and all. However, two of the biggest event’s while being six year’s
