Author

Sylvia H Irish

The author has worked long and hard to present this as her second publication entitled The Impressions/Expressions of the Lion Queen: The Book of Books Vol. 1. Book One: The Impressions/Expressions of the Lion Queen was not only her first publication, but it was also her first attempt in putting a book together. She was solely responsible for everything—from the lyrical contents to the design on the book cover. The only thing she was not responsible for was the printing and the publication. It was a very difficult task putting a book together; the author felt she was in at the deep end. However, she rose to the challenge, and The Impressions/Expressions of the Lion Queen was born. This was a book of spoken words and poetry, which the author has dedicated to the world because there was something within it for everyone, irrespective to race, color, class, or creed. Her new book is fact and fiction based, and it contains a compilation of poems, spoken words, and short stories. It is a rich tapestry of cultural heritage. Peace.

    MY NAME

I t is said that the energy in your name creates your life, your personality, your likes and dislikes, your ideals and the conditions and experiences you attract.

Your name is very important because your name not only tells others who you are and where you may come from but it also depicts your characteristics which are inclusive only to you.

Some of my readers’ were very disappointed that I used my Christian name in my first publication, The Impressions / Expressions Of The Lion Queen, as opposed to my Ancestral name and it must have been very painful to see such a powerful title such as The Lion Queen pitched next to a name such as Sylvia.H. Irish. Yes! I know it hurts, but hush, nuh cry Mabel, (lol).

I have analysed my name time and time again, believe me; I had to because I am the one having to answer to that name. I remember approaching my Mother many years ago and suggested changing my name, I can honestly say that my Mother was not too happy about it because she could not understand why I should want to change my name, when our Ancestors’ had done so many great works’ in that name.

I continued to study the name and after some time I arrived at the conclusion that ‘the power lies within the translation.’ However, having said that, it does not mean that I intend on wearing it forever; everything takes time so bear with me and allow me to develop and exact myself.

As we move forward, you will come to learn more about me, and my concept of how I see things.

Firstly, I used my name because it was given to me by my parents’ and based on logics and on what my Mother told me, I decided it best to leave the gateway open for a little while longer, so should a long lost relative or friend come looking for me, I will be found.

Secondly, I do not have an African name but I was given a title by my Ancestors.’ Don’t get me wrong, I have many names that were given to me by people I have come into contact with, but I was never given an African name at a ‘naming ceremony’ as such and it would be interesting to see the summarisation and to what I amount to.

Thirdly, it has never really bothered me that I did not have an African name because Lion Queen suited me fine. I am not only happy with the name but I am also very proud to wear it, because I know for certain that the name Lion Queen was given to me by my Ancestors’ and hopefully in the future, I will be able to share my story with my readers of how I came to acquire such a title.

It was not until a Sista said to me during conversation, Lion Queen, I would like to see you with an African name. I told the Sista that I already had an African name, she said, yea, but Lion Queen is not a name, it is a title. The Sista had just changed her name and no doubt was feeling elevated; she said, she just woke up one morning and decided it was time for a new name. She went on to say that as from today, I want people to know me by this name and she has never looked back since.

That is all it takes and is the first step forward for one to reclaim his or her identity.

The Sista approached me six months later regarding a new, more conscious name, one that would be more in-line with my character. I can recall telling the Sista in question that although I was aware of the naming ceremonies, I would feel more comfortable if the person that was naming me at least knew something about me.

The Sista agreed with me then she said, I was going through a list of African names’ and I came across some names which in my humble opinion depicts your characteristics! She then proceeded to give me four names and asked me to pick one.

I liked the sound of ‘Ramara,’ she told me that ‘Ramara’ meant prophet and foundation, so I chose ‘Ramara.’

She then revealed to me that she had already chosen one for me and that her choice was Shinyaire, pronounced Shinairee, meaning ‘a Gift from God.’

The name, I am told came from Nigeria in West Africa.

I mentioned to another Sista the new names I was given and she agreed that those names’ would ‘suit me to the Tee,’ I also informed her that there was a name that had called out to me some fifteen to twenty years prior, and that name was Sophia.

It so happened I was in a shop one day speaking to an Elder, who having learnt that my name was Sylvia, immediately referred to me as Sophia. I thought how extraordinary, a name that had remained dormant for some twenty-six years was now being given to me by a total stranger.

Much to my surprise, my Sista utilised the information I had given her and made up a ‘Certificate of Authenticity,’ bearing my given name and confirming the date that I embraced that new name and title.

That was sweet of the Sista so much so, that I thought I would include it in this book for my readers’ to see. The Sistas’ are trying, so who am I to refuse such an honour: it is the woman who crowned men and put them on her throne and if my Sistas’ think that I deserve a name befitting for my title, then I am truly honoured and I can only give thanks that I have such beautiful Sistas around me.

Having said that, it is going to take some time for me to adjust to another name, as I am so accustomed to answering to the name ‘Lion Queen’, because that is who the Ancestors’ say I am, ‘The Lion Queen;’ The Ya Bast Neter. However I can now see my new name on paper and it looks very official, if I must say so myself.

    More Information

The reason I kept the title, ‘The Impressions / Expressions of The Lion Queen’ is because it is original, it is real, and it is all mine.

I decided I would put out a series of Books’ under one title and this is my title: it is all to do with A Lion Queen Production!

The ‘Book of Books’ is a very big Book which consists of many Books and we have extracted a selection of books to create Volume I.

Keep an eye out for the concluding parts of these stories in my next book.

    Acknowledgement To My Family

I want to give rise to my dear Mother, the Bastian of the family, and to my Father (PBUH), for making such a beautiful baby like me and for passing on their DNA in their Genes. I also want to give rise to my Grandmother the Wise One (PBUH); for not only passing on her genes, but for ensuring that the right genes were selected to match her gene pool, hence the selection of my Father.

I just want to say if the choice was for the choosing, then rest assured I would chose you again in the next life to be my parents, again and again, until we have perfected ourselves as individuals and as a family unit.

I can do no more but to rise up each and every one of my Ancestors’ in this my lifetime, because you are my past, my present and my future, so I am therefore obligated, devoted and committed to finish the journey that you have started. When I have finished this, the task that you have set for me, only then am I permitted to join you and take my place amongst the stars.’

I want to rise up my entire family: I would especially like to give a big rise up to my Great Grand Aunt, whom I met up with in 2014. She is a most remarkable woman that I have ever met: Aunt Agnes is eighty-five years of age and she uses an Ipad II and designs glassware, I could not believe it; this woman is incredible, jolly, jovial, and very young at heart; had it not been for a few ailments one would not realise her age.

I remember one time we sat engaged in conversation, she said the following rhyme, which she would recite as a young girl at home, and I quote,

‘The world is a happy place

Where every child should laugh and sing

And always have a smiling face

    And never sulk for anything’

Rise up to my dear Aunt, I am fortunate to have met you!

I would also like to rise up my Great Grandmother, Anne Irish, (PBUH), on my Father’s side of the family: I just want to apologise for the omission in my previous book, and to let you know that it was never my intention.

I would like to apologise to my Great Grandmother, Priscilla Frith (PBUH), for referring to her title as Weekes instead of Frith.

I cannot conclude without the mention of my dear Gran (PBUH).

I want to give thanks and praises to the Mother and Father of Creation ‘who created the Heavens and fertilised the Earth and whose words are established forever.’

I want to give rise to all the people that helped me in the publication of this book: to the community for certain channels of vibrations, for the spoken words and for the music, I owe it all to you. Your voices have echoed throughout time and it is your dreams that were so haunting throughout my daily existence.

Finally, I want to say thank you to my Editors and to my Publisher. I also want to say a big thank you to all the members’ of my team and to all the people working behind the scenes’ that have helped to make this Book possible.

    Thank You!

    A Special Dedication

I want to thank Beverley for her contributions to this, my second book.

Thank you my Sista for your input, know that your time and energy has been appreciated.

I could not have done it without you!

    Thank You!

    86498.png

    My Hobbies

I enjoy music to the point where I thought of becoming an entertainer but I figured, maybe if I took that direction in life, I might have ended up on the wrong path; so instead of choosing the microphone as my tool of expression, I chose the pen of which some say ‘it is stronger than the sword.’ I also read somewhere that ‘reading makes a Man, but writing makes an exact Man.’ I believe that it was those words that had moved and inspired me to be more serious about my writing, because it offered me the space to be who I am, as well as it gave me the opportunity to exact myself.

When I am not engaged in the above, I am on the phone having a good old chinwag and catching up on the latest news.

Now, I did not say the latest gossip, I said the latest news!

    Peace.

    New Message To The Chidren

M y youths, if I do not speak to you again, I want you to take heed of this message that I am putting out there for you.

Please stay away from the cults and their so-called leaders because they base their doctrines around the worship of one man!

Some might say but hold on wait a minute, in your last book you saluted Rastafari as a great God and King!

Yes! I did, but please do not get it twisted we are all Gods and Goddesses!

When it comes to acknowledging Rastafari, it is another story. Common sense tells me, I cannot acknowledge or give rise to the Emperor without acknowledgement of the Empress, because we are dealing with the balance of the sexes.

However, it would appear that some Rastafarians have fallen into the trap of worshiping just the Father and have totally ignored the Mother of all Creation, now that is wrong.

How would you feel if you, as Fathers, helped to raise your children and these ungrateful children grew up but only gave praises to their Mothers?

You would not like it because it takes two to make a baby and as Fathers, you want to feel loved and appreciated. Well, so it is with your spiritual Mother.

Some people will get upset with me for speaking the truth but has it ever occurred to those people that the reason why we are suffering so much today is because we have failed to address the balance?

You can respect and admire your fellowman but to worship him is an insult to your Creator because the Mother and Father of Creation made you equal to the next man and woman, and you have no right getting down on your knees and worshipping a man.

If you continue to worship a man or men, you will forever be disappointed, because no man is perfect: so why have you raised the level of his expectation?

It is not just the men you ought to avoid but you need to stay clear of the women who are involved with these cult leaders, because they are phallic worshippers and they do not have your best interest at heart.

Balanced women have the Nation’s interest at heart; women who worship men as gods will even rob their babies of their breast milk if it meant keeping their man! They would feed their men steak, while their children ate sardines.

So please wake up my youths. Be wise and stay away from these cults.

    Peace.

    New Message To The Parents

E very time I write a book, I make it a point of duty to leave a positive message with both the parents and the children. I feel it is important to inject the right knowledge and the right information into the community, in an attempt to remain focused on the things that are important, such as, Nation Building and who are the Master Builders,’ if not the youths.

Here is what some of our most renowned scholars, seers, and prophets had to say to the youths and I quote, ‘Jah calls upon the youths’ because they are strong!’

It is said, ‘we should teach the youths while they are young, so that in time to come they will know where to put their blame!’

Here we have another quote, supposedly uttered from The Most High, ‘Parents, do not spare the rod and spoil your child!’

What that simply means is parents are encouraged to discipline their children because, ‘the youths’ of today shall be the Man and Woman of tomorrow!’ If
