All the modern technology that has changed our lives for the better can be traced back to the research and inventions by an ingenious genius, 'Dr Nikola Tesla'. A true legend that he was, terms such as Engineer, Inventor, Scientist, Physicist, Revolutionist, Visionary, Futurist fall short to describe the profound work and contributions made by this greatest scientist in the history towards the development of human kind.

 

Dr Nikola Tesla has to its credit, more than 700 patents and many more that he left unpatented with an intent to make them available for everyone. Moreover, there were many other astonishing discoveries and findings that he did not bring to light deliberately fearing the risk involved, if fallen into wrong hands. His ground-breaking inventions include Alternating Current, Peace Ray, humanoid robots, television, remote control, x-rays, wireless power transmission, Time Travel, to name a few. Dr Tesla also aspired to provide free electricity to the whole world. This creative genius found the breakthrough in harnessing the power of electricity, consequently laying the foundation of the Second Industrial Revolution. He was known as the inventor of the Electric Age.

 

Born in 1856, a Serbian American, Dr Tesla displayed his brilliance and exceptional abilities since childhood. Having grown up in a religious family, he had an unswerving faith in the Almighty. And it was his faith in God that kept him going and never let troubles weigh him down. His life story is an extraordinary series of triumphs and tribulations, marred by envy, competition and losses. Despite witnessing unprecedented success, amassing wealth was never his goal, instead Tesla refused to get bogged down by powerful heavyweights who wished to accomplish their diabolical intentions using his research. His then, contemporaries tried to destroy him by all means but failed to dampen his spirit. With his unparalleled grit and never-say-die attitude, he rose like phoenix never to look back again.

 

However, over the course of time, this inspirational story of such a visionary who was centuries ahead of his time was manipulated to fade into oblivion. In 2014, Sadguru Aniruddha (Dr Aniruddha Joshi, MD Medicine, fondly known as Aniruddha Bapu in his discourse spoke highly about this humble yet magnanimous personality. Thereafter, a series of articles covering all facets of Dr Nikola Tesla was published in a Marathi newspaper 'Dainik Pratyaksha'. In the foreword of this book, Dr Aniruddha Joshi writes, "Several call him 'God of Science'. If you ask me, Dr Nikola Tesla is indeed the greatest scientist the world has ever seen. Moreover, the chances of someone able to match his achievements in future are almost next to nil."

 

This book celebrates the life and achievements of Dr Nikola Tesla. The book throws light not only on his stupendous findings and experiments but it also acquaints its readers with the human side of the man who dedicated his life for our betterment- Dr Nikola Tesla.

 

The book is a compilation of articles originally published in a Marathi newspaper 'Dainik Pratyaksha'. The articles in this book are translated and reproduced for the benefit of the readers.

He is the greatest of the scientists the world has seen... Many haven’t even heard of him till date. Several call him ‘The Ultimate Sage of Modern Science’... Quite a few believe that his scientific contribution is at least a two thousand times greater compared to Albert Einstein... We are talking about Dr. Nikola Tesla!

If you ask me, Dr. Nikola Tesla is indeed the greatest scientist the world has ever seen. Moreover, the chances of someone able to match his achievements in future are almost next to nil. Dr. Nikola Tesla is also taken in high regards for his immense faith in God. 

Today, if we have to transmit sound from point to another, within just a few meters, it takes quite an effort to arrange for it. Again, it is not guaranteed to be error-free. However, Dr. Tesla accomplished this task with ease, that too back in the year 1893.

Again, in 1893, he participated in a scientific exposition spread over about 700 acres. Here, he lit 200,000 bulbs simultaneously, continuously for about 11 hours. Those were the times when lighting even a single bulb was considered quite a task.

Later, within just two years from it, in 1895, his entire four-storey laboratory got burned down. It is alleged that adversaries of Dr. Nikola Tesla were responsible for it. Only ashes remained. All his books, records, instruments, machines, just everything was reduced to rubble. However, within a year from this destruction, he bounced back to restore, in fact, exceed what he had achieved earlier.

Way back in 1898, Dr. Nikola Tesla was the one who built the first robot in the world. He performed many such stupendous experiments, yet many haven’t even heard about him. It is regrettable of us, not him.

Dr. Nikola Tesla has made several mindboggling discoveries. Though sensational he proved his discoveries scientifically.

It is possible to ‘bend’ time and space! Yes, you read it right. Dr. Nikola Tesla discovered and proved it. With this, it is believed that he had even developed spacecraft for inter-galactic travel from one planet to the other. This concept is not a poetic imagination or utopian daydream. Yes, though a human, a scientist, Dr. Tesla bent both - time and space. Remember, Dr. Nikola Tesla was an ardent devotee of the Almighty. But the Almighty is the only One, Who can bend time, space and direction – all three at the same time. 

Even today, Dr. Nikola Tesla has more than 700 patents to his name, which again proves him to be an exceptional scientist. Many of his patents were stolen by others. Numerous got lost during the fire that destroyed his laboratory. Yet, there has hardly been anyone with so many patents to his or her name.

All these discoveries which I have mentioned here are just the tip of an iceberg. Dr. Nikola Tesla is credited for thousands of other finds as well. 

One such find of Dr. Nikola Tesla is ‘Teleportation’. He made an entire ship disappear from mid-sea and teleported it to an altogether different location. This act was no magic; he did it totally scientifically. This discovery of Dr. Tesla questions many of those who call themselves ‘modern’ or ‘progressive’. It has been more than seventy years since Dr. Tesla passed away in 1943. Then, he was 86 but active until his last breath. Considering all this, are we so-called more ‘advanced’ or ‘modern’ than him?

In those days, Dr. Nikola Tesla faced opposition from a number of powerful people, organizations and societies. But they all failed to harm him. The only loss he suffered was the destruction of his laboratory. However, Dr. Tesla had no fear. The fire had then taken away everything from him, but he actually rose from the ashes much like a phoenix bird. After the lab fire, he went to a countryside church which was frequented by his mother when she would come to visit Nikola in the United States. She lived in Serbia. The only thing he did was to pray and ask God to show him the way forward. He never questioned God to have let this happen to him.

From thereon, within just 11 months from the incident, he not only rebuilt his entire laboratory to a much larger extent but also secured many bigger projects. With it, he forced his ‘powerful’ adversaries to cede to him.

It is said that when he came back after a couple of weeks from the fire incident, he returned to work without any loss in enthusiasm. When people tried to sympathize with him, the only reply he had was, ‘God is there for me. God is great. The Mother will take care’. Such was his faith!

01. The Ultimate Sage of Modern Science: An Introduction

Dr. Aniruddha D. Joshi, reverently called Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu by millions, introduced us to Dr. Nikola Tesla on the Thursday of 27th March 2014 during one of his discourses. Dr. Tesla is believed to be the greatest scientist - the Ultimate Sage of Modern Science the world has ever seen. Largely forgotten, his inventions remain part and parcel of everyday life of each and every human on this planet. This book on Dr. Nikola Tesla is a collection of articles that were published in the ‘Dainik Pratyaksha’. They redraw attention to this sagely and scientific personality and his ahead of time inventions.

Dr. Nikola Tesla, a Serbian-born American, better called the ‘Greatest Scientist of the Millennium’, was indeed the greatest inventor, futurist and a visionary physicist best known across the world for his path-breaking inventions of Alternating Current, free energy and wireless power transmission, among thousands of others.

Dr. Nikola Tesla was born at the midnight of 10th July 1856 to a Catholic, religious family in the then Austrian Empire (modern-day Croatia)in the midst of intense summer lightening storm. Interestingly, the midwife who helped his mother deliver baby Nikola had predicted him to be the ‘Child of Storm’, and indeed he turned out to be so.

An epitome of electrical and mechanical engineering, Dr. Nikola Tesla enrolled himself at the Austrian Polytechnic School in Graz on a Military Border Scholarship. Further to it, Dr. Tesla went to the University of Prague to pursue philosophy. Later, both Yale University and Columbia University awarded Dr. Tesla with honorary doctorates. Dr. Tesla knew 18 languages out of which he had mastery over 12, which included his native Serbo-Croat and Latin as well as Italian, French, German, English and many others.

Dr. Nikola Tesla had more than 700 patents to his name, which is a record in itself. Among an innumerable list of inventions, Dr. Tesla has invented and pioneered are Alternating Current, Peace Ray, humanoid robots, television, remote control, x-rays, wireless power transmission, free energy from cosmic rays, induction motor, radio, rotating magnetic field principle, telephone repeater, Tesla Coil transformer, wireless communication, teleportation, Spacetime bending, Time Travel, etc. The list is almost endless.

Dr. Nikola Tesla was decorated with many awards and honours for these extremely innovative and out-of-the-box inventions of his. The list of decorations include, the ‘Order of St. Sava’ conferred on him by King Milan I of Serbia in 1883, the ‘Elliott Cresson Medal’, which is the highest award given by the Franklin Institute, the ‘John Scott Award’ for inventions contributing to the ‘comfort, welfare, and happiness’ of humankind. Other awards include the ‘Order of Prince Danilo’ by King Nikola of Montenegro and also the ‘Edison Medal’ – believed to be the most coveted prize for electrical engineering in the United States. It was awarded to him in the year 1917.

Moreover, the international unit of magnetic flux density called ‘Tesla’ is, in fact, named after Dr. Nikola Tesla. Name of Dr. Tesla was inducted into the ‘Inventor’s Hall of Fame’ in 1975. The US Postal Service posthumously honoured Dr. Tesla’s achievements by releasing a commemorative stamp in the year 1983. ‘The Nikola Tesla Award’, one of the most distinguished honours presented by the Institute of Electrical Engineers, is given annually since 1976. Further, to commemorate Dr. Tesla’s achievements, every year, the 10th of July is celebrated as the ‘Nikola Tesla Day’, in the United States.

All the inventions of Dr. Nikola Tesla were so progressive and ahead of time that he is believed to have given birth to the Second Industrial Revolution and actually chartered the ‘The Electrical Era’. In a nutshell, Dr. Tesla’s inventions have laid the very foundation of not just the twentieth century but the twenty-first century as well. Dr. Tesla’s inventions were so ahead of time and hence globally watched that every major country of the world had placed its spies to monitor the movements of this ingenious genius. Dr. Tesla is a scientist, innovator and a human-being of highest and one of its kinds.

He saw God in every phenomenon of science. In his every invention, he proved science and spirituality to be the two sides of the same coin that are complementary to each other and are governed by the ‘Supreme Force’, God. It would be next to impossible to have back again such a visionary and talented exploit of science and spirituality. Due to all his inventions and innovations, he is revered as The Ultimate Sage of Modern Science.
