About this ebook

Many are touting that the United States of America is no longer a Christian country, a fact reinforced by the US Supreme Court when it recently stated that on certain issues the Bible is no longer relevant. This book will challenge you to be all God wants you to be. It calls for you and your church to be on fire for God as you are energized and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The authors passion to see God exalted and people turn to Christ is clearly evident throughout the book. If you are desirous of seeing God work in extraordinary ways, this book will show you how it can be done and how you can become an agent for change.

The church is in need of revival; an awakening that ignites hearts and empowers lives. A go-along-to-get-along mentality has rendered believers ineffective and ill prepared to meet the present day challenges. It’s time for followers of Jesus to demonstrate urgency and dependence on God. And that is the clarion call of Gordon Haresign’s new work, Pray for the Fire to Fall. Using Elijah’s showdown with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, Gordon calls each of us to fervent prayer, obedience to God’s Word, and empowerment from the Holy Spirit. Writing from the foundation of Scripture, church history, and personal experience, Gordon reminds his readers that revival begins one person, one church, and one community at a time.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). Gordon’s work, Pray for the Fire to Fall, brings us up close and personal with Elijah, a man who God chose to show Himself strong. In these perilous times, this book encourages us that indeed these are again the Days of Elijah. We must work for and expect a mighty awakening from the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Gordon, for reminding us that He is Jehovah and that soon every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord!

    Foreword

Gordon’s book is a book worth reading—more than once! This book does what every good Christian book should do: it sends us deeper into the Scriptures to hear from God for ourselves!

Not only does Gordon draw accurate parallels between the Israel of Elijah’s time and the America of our day, but more importantly he shows what one faithful, fully surrendered servant of God can accomplish. We need more people like Elijah today! We need men and women who will allow God to work through them in such a way that God’s mighty power is displayed so that when all is said and done, the people fall on their faces and say, "The Lord, He is God,
