    Preface

Dr. Richard R. Reichel is a highly respected, well-known, award-winning film producer, director, and writer who has done projects worldwide. He possesses a keen knowledge of all aspects of film production. This includes camera function and operation, set creation and design, and special effects. In the beginning of his career, he worked as a radio and TV announcer. During his work as a casting director, he clearly became aware that the majority of people who auditioned for him and for various film productions did not possess the knowledge and skills needed to win an audition and secure the part. Richard was determined to change that scenario, which he observed over and over again.

His years of hands-on experience gave him not only a comprehensive understanding of the creative and technical aspects of the film business but also to clearly formulate a way to end the underachiever syndrome facing film actors. You will learn in Dr. Reichel’s book, Everybody Is an Actor, that today, what are called by some as acting methods and techniques in manuals or used by instructors in many ways are obsolete. These techniques and methods are based on antiquated procedures used in theater acting. Dr. Richard R. Reichel’s psychophantic system of film acting teaches individuals the entire realm of film acting based on a complete and total education of the film industry and the psychological principles that operate within it. Psychophancy can be accomplished within a relatively short period of time.

Students, as well as those with experience, will be amazed by what they will learn. Besides accomplishing a positive film acting skill and learning to become the actual character you are portraying, you will learn how to effectively work with the producer, director, cast, and crew, plus much more! Students will know how to avoid falling into the trap of being self-conscious and other negative habits most beginners and even some seasoned professionals make. With Richard Reichel’s psychophantic system, mistakes will be overcome before they happen! There is nothing like what he teaches anywhere else! Richard’s system is also excellent for those who would just like to have more confidence, be more assertive at work, at school, at home, or in social situations.

Dr. Reichel believes that one should not step on the shoulders or heads of others to build a kingdom for yourself or use the bricks of someone else’s castle to build your own. No names of actual students or actors that he has taught or worked with over the years will be mentioned within the pages of this important book. His Psychophantic System stands alone on its own merits as the most innovative and complete guide to real success in the world of film acting. It is also a great way to help those outside this industry enhance their lifeacts that they face every day.

To become a successful film actor, one must be aware and understand what a lifeact is. Everyone who has lived on this earth for any length of time is a life actor. When you are in your mother’s womb, it all begins. You react then act toward the conditions surrounding you. You respond by life acting to food, movement, and sound. As a child, you’re brought up by some form of parental influences which act as mind molding forces. These influences and forces direct you in lifeacting a certain way toward people of different backgrounds, positions, and the situations they exist in. Henceforth, we are all shaped into formations of the lifeact. The less we are caught up in the world’s established patterns, the more genuine we become, even to the point of being unique. Unfortunately, uniqueness rarely happens. Peer pressure fills in the gaps as we grow up and develops stronger within the aging process. Stagnation sets in regarding family, friends, work, and social relationships. The lifeact conditioning prevents many individuals from reaching for their goals and desires that they had when they were younger. Negative lifeact-persuading elements cause a constipated lifestyle that searches for heroes and heroines outside of one’s mundane existence. Many people become empty seashells at the bottom of an obtundent sea. Looking for a destiny for themselves, they are attached to and admire film actors, sports figures, the extremely wealthy, and others who are successful in different fields. This helps to obturate the emptiness and fill the shell with a substitute for real lifeact satisfaction.

If you are still not convinced that everybody is a life actor, think about the times when you have heard the phrases Don’t act up, Act your age, Act the way you should, Stop putting on this act, and Why are you acting this way? These are just a few of many variations of lifeact everyone has experienced. Need more convincing? Do you treat your mother the same way you lifeact toward your boyfriend? Do you lifeact the same way with your spouse as you do with a business associate? How about the relationship you have between you, your dentist, and the auto mechanic that repairs your car? It is all lifeacting, my friend! The only time you may not be lifeacting is
