    Chapter 1

Good morning, this is your 6 o’clock reporter, Jack White. Coming to you from St. James Hospital. We are investigating a report of a twenty eight year old woman brought in by her husband. The report is that she turned green at a dinner party. Her husband described it as a light green blush. It lasted about a minute. We hope to get a statement from her doctor as soon as possible. Here comes Mr. Sims now the husband of the green woman. Mr. Sims can you tell us how this happened? What made your wife turn green?"

I don’t know what happened we were all just sitting around the table eating a good dinner with friends. Talking and having a good time. When all of a sudden Patty my wife turned a funny green color. She didn’t even feel it but we all saw it. it just kind of crept over her.

"Are you saying she didn’t feel a thing?

That’s it, She ask why we were all staring at her.

    How long did it last?

Just a little while then it just went away it kind of faded out.

Do the Doctors know why she did this?

No they are going to run some tests and see if they can figure it out.

There it is folks, That’s what is going on at St. James Hospital tonight. Now lets see if we can get a word with her doctor.

Jack White looks around the emergency room for the E. R. Doctor while pulling the camera man along.

The place is packed full of people, coming and going. there he is. Jack points to a corner where a group of Doctors are in conference. Dragging the camera man along behind him Jack crosses to where they are.

Moving closer they can hear part of the conversation.

This is the first time its happened in our area but I am afraid that it wont be the only case. We have to get on this and find out everything as fast as possible. Blaine get in touch with the disease control center and see if they have made any progress on it yet. Doctor Ware get a sample of everything she has ingested in the last twenty-four hours. Have analysis run, look for anything unusual. Check with other cases for any connection. Or anything that might give us a clue what it is and where it comes from.

Doctor, Doctor Orin can we have a word with you? This is W.G.G.N. News. Doctor Orin did I here you say that Patty Sims is not the first case like this? How many more are there and what is it that is making them turn green?

Just what we need now, a news reporter. Doctor Orin turns to walk away. Over his shoulder he tells the other doctors, Lets meet in my office at eight tomorrow morning were we can have some privacy and see what we have to work with.

Doctor can I get a statement for the news? insists Jack White with Tim the camera man in tow.

Irritated at the interruption but knowing that reporters wont give up without a statement Doctor Orin complies reluctantly Just a short one, as you can see we are short handed and I have patients to tend to.

Ok Tim role it. Tim gives Jack the go sign and the camera is rolling This is doctor Orin, Patty Sims doctor here at St. James Hospital. Doctor do you have any idea what made Mrs. Sims turn green?

No not at this time we are running tests on her and what she ate. We probably won’t have any information until late tomorrow afternoon.

Are you saying it could be something in what she ate?

Yes that is a possibility or it could be in something she came in contact with. We don’t know, that is why we run tests. Doctor Orin states with a hint of sarcasm. The human body is vary sensitive and outside substances can cause sudden changes.

Is it true Doctor that there are other cases of this kind?

Doctor Orin really looks upset You news people really have big ears don’t you? We are not sure if this case is the same. But we are checking it out, at this point we just have to look at everything.

    Is it a possibility?

I can’t say at this time.

    can’t or won’t?

can’t, now I must go. Doctor Orin turns and walks away in the direction of the E.R. desk.

There you have it folks a first from Jack White live from St. James. Why are people turning green? No one knows why but we brought it to you first. Ok cut Tim.

Jack White is thirty years old. He decided to be a news reporter when he met his uncle Bob who was a war reporter. Uncle Bob had won several awards and traveled everywhere. He told spellbinding stories that Jack wanted to listen to over and over again.

From the E. R. entrance the sound of shuffling feet and someone yelling Get me a Doctor! A fat man in his forties pushed his way toward the E. R. desk and he is very green. People in the parking lot and in the waiting room stare and step aside. It is obvious that they are scared yet curious about the green color.

Doctor Orin pushes towards the man as well as Jack White with Tim in tow, Role it Tim! here we are folks a second case in full color on the spot. Come on Tim.

Doctor Orin cuts Jack off and over his shoulder tells him, get out of the way now! To the aides he yells, "get him in number two. Get blood and urine, his color
