Nubia Maat Ptah

I needed to understand without self-hate why I found myself in so many hurtful situations with men. I knew I was not alone with my hurt so I decided to research the sociology of African Americans. I enrolled in City College and majored in African American Studies. All of the AAS- courses were very revealing as to how and why African Americans interacted in such a negative manner with one another. Our behavior was conditioned through the enslavement process. The mass kidnapping, rape and murder of Africans has created a dysfunctional societal structure within the context of white supremacy for African Americans. Now, with a foundational cause of the African American psychology I was better able to understand my role in the bigger picture. With this new found knowledge I was capable of releasing blame and hate for the Brother #’s in my book. I have since received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in Black Studies and I am currently working on a Master of Science in Public Services Management with a concentration in Public Policy. My life is not a fairy tale there is no knight in shining armor that rescues me at the end of my story. My unfinished business is about tying up loose ends in my mind and accepting the lessons of constant change. Ache’ to the Ancestors- Nubia Maat Ptah

Several people come to mind whom I would like to thank for their continued support and patience while digging deep into my psyche to retrieve the forgotten memories of my past lives.

My family without your lessons I would not be the warrior Black Queen that I am; my children Tamika & Brandon thanks for understanding jazz; David Danku for acknowledging my spiritual self; and Mrs. Geraldine Booker for being my Griot when I needed you.

My professors; Zada Johnson, for your raw Queendomship; Mr. Allen, for helping me to connect everything; Ismay Ashford, for helping me to recognize the self within us all; Ezzat Goushegir, for guiding me to the vehicle that will never restrict my creativity; and Dr. Sandra Jackson for knowing I could.

To all the brothers #’s, I now understand my role in the script! Forgiveness is a total cleansing that opens spiritual doors.
