Once in A very busy household was a man whom cared for his family by owning his own business. His wife Pagekept the house very pretty, clean, and comfortable for everyone there. It was your usual day at the Avery’s house. Page was beginning to see a change in her husband Don. He seemed to be more nervous and confused at times.
Honey where’s that blue tie that I always like to wear?
Try the dryer.
The dryer? The kids were all running around looking for things and calling their mom all at once. When the school bus arrived, Page called out to the kids, Okay everyone to the bus.
Yeah, let’s get moving,
Don said. They got all cleared out then the house was quiet. Don said, Honey, I’ll be in late tonight.
Ahhh honey, not again. Wasn’t this the third time this month?
"I’ve got a lot to finish then I got this new project that needs the drafts for the New York clients.
You never told me about these new clients.
Page, I’m late. I’ll just have to argue with you later.
He kissed her then rushed out.
The phone then rang it was her friend Kim. Hello, Kim. How are you?
Fine. I was just about to go to the mall. they are having a big sale today, coming with me?
Sure, I’ll meet you there.
Page cleaned the house, put everything away, grabbed her car keys, then left.
Later that day, when Page got back from her outing with Kim, she fixed the kid’s dinner and saw that the day was beginning to pass by a little longer then she expected. So she called Don’s office to see if had gone home yet, but there was no answer. By the time Don got home from work, he saw that the kids had already eaten dinner and gone to bed. Page on the other hand, was still up and waiting for his return home while she read a book in bed.
Rough night?
Page asked.
Yeah, the drafts came out great. I’m calling the clients in the morning for a meeting, so I’ll be booked all day.
Don!
Page called out, we were supposed to take the kids to the park tomorrow, and besides, I thought tomorrow was your day off?
Aww, honey, I forgot. I’ll meet you guys there.
Meet us there? Don, I can’t do this anymore.
Page started to get angry.
Do what?
Don said. I mean, I’m out there every day busting my ass, and you’re giving me no understanding at all.
Page told Don to keep his voice down before he woke the kids. She then told Don that she was going to bed and that there was nothing more to talk about. That kind of made Don mad so, he took his clothes off with anger and then went to bed himself.
The next day, Page and the kids loaded everything up in the car, prepared for a day out at the park. When her youngest son Benny asked, Where’s daddy?
He’s going to meet us there, honey.
Meanwhile, Don was at the office when two well-dressed guys that Don owed money from showed up for a visit.
The secretary buzzed his office to let him know that he had some guests. Send them in,
Don said. But when the two guys came in, Don’s face expression dropped as if he was not quite ready to see them.
Mr. Avery, are you ready to see us now?
One of the guys asked.
The other guy said We’ve been waiting to hear from you, I thought that you would have enough courage to at least call and say I’ve got your money
.
Hey, I’m sorry, guys. I got a little hung up. But I’ll have your money as soon as possible.
The guys didn’t want to hear anything other than where their money was. So one of the guys told Don, You’ll really know what hung up is if we don’t get our money soon.
The two well-dressed guys then left, but not before they threatened to tell his wife whose money really helped him start his contracting company. But Don pleaded with them until they left him alone, promising that he’d come up with the money by next week. The men walked out of the office. Don then laid his head down on the desk, sighing with relief.
Back at the park where Page and the kids played, Kim met up with them as she was taking her kids out for a walk. Page!
she called out.
Hey, Kim. What are you doing here?
I was bringing Josh and Candace for a walk to kill some time before dinner. How’s Don?
"He’s fine. He was supposed to meet us here. But I don’t know what happened.
Actually, I don’t know what’s happening to us. He works late and doesn’t talk to me as much anymore. I just don’t know what to do."
Maybe he’s under a lot of pressure, with work and everything. I heard that it gets pretty busy this time of the year,
Kim said.
Yeah, maybe you’re right.
The kids then started calling out to their dad. Mommy, Daddy’s here.
See and you got all worried.
Kim said as they watched Don ran and played
