About this ebook

Society everywhere places a high value on good character. To possess virtues is better than gold- Akan Maxim. This means virtue is the primary aim of moral instruction and forms the foundation of a practical moral life. Just as the strength of a building is determined by its foundation; the quality of a persons achievement in life is also determined the quality of his personal character.
The decline or fall of a nation begins in its homes. This is because the glory of a nation rests on the foundation of the family unit. No great gift on earth can ever cover up for a person who lives his/her life on a faulty foundation.
This book, What You Cant Live Without- The Cardinal Virtues prove the standards on which one can build a rocky foundation through the cardinal virtues of wisdom, courage, Justice and Self- Control.

    FOREWORD

C an you imagine a country without laws- where everyone does whatever pleases him or her? Undoubtedly, that nation will be subjected to a lot of vices that will hinder her growth and development. Likewise a life without virtue(s) is chaotic, hence hinders growth and development. "What You Can't Live Without- The Cardinal Virtues " is a revolutionary book that places each individual in a position where he/she examines his/her actions and inactions in the light of wisdom, courage, justice and self-control.

The cardinal virtues are the fundamental virtues on planet earth that set the pace for every meaningful life. An individual’s goal, purpose, ambition or dream is at the mercy of these virtues in the vehicle of living. For instance courage is the driving force (the accelerator) behind every purposeful life. But courage alone does not give meaning to one's purpose or assignment; it has to rely on the shoulders of wisdom for counsel and direction (to detect the road signs and keep it safe). Justice is the windscreen through which we visualize our human actions and inactions and self- control regulates our speed to prevent the dangers of breaking our engine in the road of living. Thus the cardinal virtues are interdependent and interconnected to each other, hence no meaningful purpose can live without.

In this great masterpiece, Michael Quansah did not only show us the what, when, how and why of these virtues but more importantly; he clearly emphasized how paramount these virtues are to our purpose and livelihood. In his own words he said, The strength of a person is not determined by his/her qualities, qualifications or material possessions in life; it is determined by his/her own foundation. Thus the author shows that success in life is a function of your character- the foundation of your life. Mr. Quansah therefore admonishes all, especially parent to instill the cardinal virtues in their ward. He considers wisdom as the greatest hope on earth thus mentioning it this way, For it is better to leave a child well instructed than to hand over the whole world in the hands of a fool. The hope of a wise person is better than the wealth of fools.

In this book, the author also unraveled the mystery of living by mentioning that life is war and that the struggle of life begins in the womb. Many are living in illusion today because they cannot fathom the battles that entangle them daily. However, these battles- challenges, storms, hardships, frustrations etc we daily face in life actually reveals the nature of life to us. Hence according to Michael Quansah, seeing life from this dimension emboldens us to face the realities in it.

As a revolutionary book, it combines Biblical, Philosophical, Motivational and Statistical truth towards the revitalization of the precious treasures we have left behind. I agree with
