36600.pngOn a cold December day, six men walked into the Special Briefing room where they were greeted by Colonel Wattsman.
Good morning gentlemen.
Good morning sir.
Men, I know you’re all wondering why you’re here. You have all passed as the top six in your Sniper Class and D.A. wants a special team to try to stop terrorists here in the United States and in our Allied Countries. Your assignment is going to take you to Los Angeles.
Excuse me sir, but there is nothing happening in L.A. at this time,
one of the Sergeants interrupted.
I know Sergeant,
replied Wattsman, "But we have reason to believe there are some activities arising because of the impending visit of some Top German Officials. Your jobs are to be at the airport and make certain that nothing happens when they arrive. Gentlemen, this ends the briefing. Your plane leaves at 1300 hours tomorrow.
One more thing… Good Luck."
Arriving at Los Angeles International at 4:00 p.m., one Sergeant looked at the other team members and said, Well, I guess we should reset our watches and go get settled in our motel rooms, then get started checking this place out.
Upon arriving at the Holiday Inn, one team member remarked, Hot damn! The Holiday Inn, this is what I call living.
The others chimed in, I’ll go along with that.
After getting settled in, they returned to the airport and started checking all the possible areas where a hit man could be positioned. Unnoticed by them, they were being watched by two very beautiful women. From the way they were dressed: Dior Pantsuits and fur coats, (one in Sable, the other in Mink) it was easy to see that both women were very wealthy.
The special team returned to the motel at 10:30 p.m. telling each other to get a good night’s rest and that tomorrow they would lay out their final plans to cover the airport. At 7:30 a.m., Thursday December 14th, the special team met at the motel restaurant for breakfast. Their conversation was typical of any group of normal American men, they even managed to insult their waitress, but they didn’t discuss their assignment.
They’d already settled all the pertinent details anyway. As they were finishing their coffee, one of them spoke up asking, What time does the flight arrive?
The team leader, the only Staff Sergeant, answered, "1100 hours and it’s now 0900, so we’ve got two hours to get our equipment in order and get in position. Arriving at the airport at 1000 hours, the team moved to their pre-plotted positions for a final check of the area.
One was positioned on the Observation deck for an over all view. One was position by the Unloading stairs, near the staff car. Two were stationed at the Customs Check point.
One in the basement by the luggage pick-up and one by the Main Entrance doors.
It was now 1035 hours and a shapely young woman approached the Main Entrance doors, heading for the parking lot. She stopped by the Sergeant saying, There’s something about a man in a uniform.
As she put her arms around him and started to kiss him, she pressed her body to the soldiers. She calmly inserted a 5 inch hat pin in his left ear and shoved hard in an upward motion to the brain, killing him.
The Sergeant by the staff car looked and noticed his team member kissing the girl then falling to the floor. Seeing the girl running out the doors heading for the parking lot, the Sergeant started across the parking lot after her. Concentrating solely on the girl, he didn’t notice the car coming down the lane and ran in front of the motorist.
The impact of the car threw him into other parked cars, killing him instantly.
The team member, stationed in the Observation deck, saw the team member at the staff car leave his post and realized something was wrong. As he turned to leave, deciding he’d better check it out, a pair of strong hands grabbed him and threw him over the railing.
At 1040 hours the two men stationed at the Customs check point decided to go to the restroom before disembarking passengers started crowding through. Entering the restroom, one went to the urinal and the other went into a stall. At that time the door opened and an elderly looking man walked in, stood behind the Sergeant at the urinal. The man pulled a .38 snub-nose revolver with silencer, from his coat pocket, pointed it at the back of the soldier and pulled the trigger. A voice came from one of the stalls, John, is everything all right?
His answer was two more shots rippling through the door of the stall, killing him.
Checking his watch, it was 1045 hours, the Sergeant in the basement decided to go upstairs to see if the flight was on time. Going through the door and starting up the stairs he was met by a man in overalls, the same color as the ground crews, and as they passed the man in overalls turned around and stuck a hunting knife into the soldier’s back killing him.
The special team had been wiped out out and now the terrorists plan could now be put in motion.
CHAPTER ONE
36613.pngLater that night six other men, sitting in the team leader Reed’s room, were listening to the radio.
"Six days to go before jump school, gentlemen ! ‘SSG. Reed’s strong voice declared.
Yeah! Six boring days of lying around
bellowed a half drunk Crocker. Hughes and Wood were each reading a magazine, with a beer near by. A news flash came on the radio: Six members of a sniper team were killed at the Los Angeles International Airport this morning. Names are being with held pending notification of the next-of-kin. Several top German Officials were also killed.
Grimm jumped his feet and growled;
Those commie bastards!’
Settle down Grimm! Your time is coming, so just hold on. Besides, I don’t want to hear it!
Reed’s voice cut in.
Grimm just stood there looking like someone had just kicked his feet out from under him.
Wood, Townsend and Crocker just smiled. Reed stood up with his hands on his hips and roared with laughter.
A knock came at the door and as Townsend answered it, Reed stopped laughing long enough to get hold of his men.
Captain Hanson stood at the door and said, Gentlemen, your jump school has been dropped from the program. You have thirty minutes to report to Colonel Wattsman’s office. Be on time! A staff car will be waiting for you. Goodnight gentlemen,
Captain Hanson left.
I’d like to get that collage boy just once sarge, just…….
forget it Grimm it’s not worth it.
commanded Reed. Get dressed and let’s find out what ‘Old Bullhead ‘wants.
Each man went to his room to shower, shave and dress. As the members of this team left, Reed and Hughes yelled, "Make sure you’re in khakis and spit-shined boots, nothing else. Thirty minutes later each was standing in front of Colonel Wattsman.
Gentlemen, we had a small accident in L.A., which you’ve probably already heard about. I’ll say this, before I get any static from you. The Sniper School here has begun an advanced course and you six men will be the first to go through it. Do you have any questions, gentlemen? If not, you’re dismissed.
They saluted, turned and left the Colonel’s office and returned to their rooms. Crocker and Grimm changed into civilian clothes. Hey Hound, did you notice something strange about the Colonel’s orderly?
You mean like being a little edgy on the phone?
replied Hound."Yeah! Let’s pay him a little visit. What bar did he mention? The Law Inn
