THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO MY TWO
SOURCES OF INSPIRATION, MY GRANDDAUGHTERS.
BOTH HAVE GIVEN ME MORE JOY THAN THEY
WILL EVER KNOW.
POEMS
I’ve written love poems for years
That has given me endless pleasure
I could feel the Lord, all about me
His sweet presence cannot be measured.
I would wake up in the middle of the night
Grab some paper and my favorite pen
While the wind was blowing up a gale
I would be visiting with the good Lord, again.
I would ask him for a certain word
To make some silly poem rhyme
I could close my eyes for a few seconds
He had let it come clear as crystal in my mind.
All of the poems binded in this book
Wasn’t written by only just me
The good Lord, was always around
In addition, kept me the sweetest company.
A BLANKET OF LONELINESS
Baby, your sweet love was truly something
It now brings tears to my eyes
I must have fallen a lot deeper
Than my lonely heart ever realized.
I wake up each morning, calling out your name
So loud that even my guardian angel could hear
I seem to be in a blanket of lonliness
Like in a trance, wishing you were here.
I have told myself a million times that it’s over
That love had made it’s visit and gone
But it’s a completely different story
When I’m cuddled up with your memory all alone.
Lord, on a rainy and stormy night it is pure misery
I toss and turn the whole night through
I sit up in bed and pray a lot
That the good Lord, will send me someone like you.
A CANYON
I woke up bright and early this morning
Only to find that you’re still on my mind
I have talked to the good Lord, about it
Praying this feeling for you would have declined.
I can’t go on from now until forever
Loving you with all my heart in vain
I believe the Lord, is always with me
As I fall asleep, whispering your name.
There’s something so very special about you
That keeps me hanging on tight
I can’t let go to save my life right now
By maybe someday if I pray enough I might.
When I first fell in love with you, baby
I was all but gleaming so deep inside
But a canyon couldn’t hold all the tears
That yearning for you has made me cry.
A DOZEN TIMES
I have called a dozen times
And I still can’t get through
I believe you have found someone else
That you have been talking to.
Are you telling him that you love him
In the same sweet way that you told me
Have you got him walking on a cloud
Just as restless as he can be.
Does he think that you are gorgeous
In the same way that I do
Would he give up everything
To spend forever with you.
Has he tasted your sweet kisses
That would put his heart in a spin
Would he keep on calling you
Like me, over and over again.
A HEAP
Now baby, don’t you be lonely
Don’t even attempt to be sad
But for some unknown reason
I lost all the love for you I had.
Every morning my pillow was damp
Where I had cried myself to sleep
The good Lord, plus all of my friends
Knew that I truly loved you a heap.
While I was staring out the window
The leaves seemed so parched and dry
I
