About this ebook
Born in a cluster of stars, Aithne is a faerie, and she comes to people in their darkest times, when they need a second soul the most. She looks like a little girl, but she grows, not with time, but with experience and the people she encounters.
Throughout her short, but meaningful journey, she helps damaged people find their way. First, she meets Clara in the 1950s. Clara, devastated after her husbands death, has no idea how to cope with it. Aithne intervenes in the forest and shines her light onto Clara. Then, Arthurs tear summons Aithne; his love story ended too soon. Monica also meets Aithne. She is a depressed girl who exists in the modern world. Lastly, Aithne finds a boy who lives in a time before words were even invented. With her wisdom, she offers comfort and guidance.
Seemingly unconnected stories, these characters and their tales are linked with a force more powerful than time itself. Aithnes journey communicates that peoples lives are not as meaningless as they might sometimes think.

AITHNE
I am a traveller. My name is Aithne. I come to people in their darkest times, when they need a second soul the most. I’d loomed around the dark green forest for days. It was still daytime, but the sun was not exactly above me. It, rather, shined at a diagonal, and it was raining a bit. I touched the little leaves, which hung from the tiny, brown twigs. Droplets of water were dancing on their surface like tiny, perfectly trained ballerinas. I was so curious about the world – a new place, so big, so wide. My feet were barely touching the ground, and my hair was tangled in the air. The rain was heavy, but I remained dry, which seemed very curious to me. I touched my soft, pale skin and smiled. I still could not believe how great this forest was and that I was in it right now.
A thin mist began to spread around like the taste of raspberries in one’s mouth. My toes played with it.
Suddenly, I saw and heard a twinkle. It was very quiet and slight, but it felt tangible. I reached out toward the sound, and my hand was greeted by a small, blue one. The hand was bigger than a tip of an eyelash but smaller than a pinkie nail. A faerie! Why was I so much bigger than her? Maybe I was just different. In body size, she was at least fifty times as small, but it did not feel like it to me. She had the power of a billion stars within her. The faerie possessed more than I could ever imagine.
This was my first encounter with a soul.
I heard footsteps – loud footsteps. They were crunching branches beneath them, and they were coming closer. The sun stopped shining as the grey clouds covered it. It glowed now, giving off an eerie light. The rain got heavier, and spring was no longer noticeable. Flowers were covered by fog, and the moss did not look like a soft blanket anymore. Buds were no longer green and pink and bright; they turned dull and almost lifeless.
Then a lady ran in. She was crying. She looked devastated, as if something truly traumatising had just happened. Tears ran down her face in streams, in rivers, and the faerie watched from behind a tree.
The woman’s look of sadness turned into confusion. Then she stood up and walked toward a tree. Her back touched the rough, rich bark, and she covered her mouth and nose with her hand. Her knees were bent.
Something was not right. She looked as if she was trying to breathe but could not.
I ran up to her silently and grabbed her hand as she fell dramatically to the ground.
