FORWARD
Lisa Scott; a rich, spoiled and emotionally disturbed young mother that couldn’t cope with the problems of raising a child.
Dujuna Jean’s mother had been pampered by her well-to-do parents. Nothing was ‘too good’ for their only child, especially from her father.
Lisa married but within a year and a half her husband abandoned her, leaving Dujuna Jean to receive the brunt of her mothers frustrations. Therefore, Dujuna did a lot of crying. So many heard her crying but no one cared. Not the neighbor next door who paid no heed to her poignant sobs in the night—nor the medical establishment that ignored her injuries—nor her wealthy grandparents afraid of shame and scandal—nor the divorced father who was absorbed in his own singles fun. With the grandparents wealth every incident was covered up.
Only Dr. Ashley Fields suspects when she sees Dujuna Jean’s broken, cigarette burned limbs that the injuries were not accidental. But she couldn’t prove it for sure—because Dujuna Jean and her beautiful tormented mother weren’t telling.
Their love for each other was too much.
FORWARD
Stop!! Stop!! Stop Crying—Stop Crying—You have to stop crying.
Dujuna Jean was crying harder than she ever had. The room vibrated with the wailing, shrill sound. causing Lisa’s frayed mind to become unstable. All she wanted was relief from this crying. She couldn’t think—she had no liquor—no friends and no escape. Lisa’s hands shook so badly she couldn’t light a cigarette. Lisa and Dujuna were in a dirty, filthy, roach infested motel room. Dujuna wanted out of this room and back in her own pink bedroom with her princess bed to sleep upon. She wanted her Daddy.
Dujuna Jean, you have to stop doing that. You have to be good and must obey mommy—do as I say and stop causing mommy so much trouble.
As Lisa stood facing Dujuna they locked eyes. The younger eyes were petrified with fear while the older one’s eyes were distorted with blind fury. With a grip that felt like hot iron Lisa’s long, manicured fingernails dug into Dujuna’s flesh.
Authors note: This is a story that happens a lot in our society but because of the financial status of the parents nothing is ever done about child abuse. The cases are wrote off as being unsubstantial. Parents like this could not or would not treat their children with abuse. How untrue and insane.
This story is what I believe could and does happen when child abuse is shoved under the carpet.
My prayer is if there is child abuse going on in the homes of the rich and influential that it will be uncovered before something like what happens in this story happens.
Stop!! Stop, Stop—Please stop crying!!! You have to stop—stop crying!!! Dujuna Jean was crying harder than she ever had. The small room vibrated with the wailing, shrill sound, causing Lisa’s frayed mind to become unstable. All she wanted was relief from the crying. Lisa Marie couldn’t think, couldn’t light a cigarette, no alcohol, no friends or escape. Dujuna Jean, you have to stop doing that. You have to be good: do as I say and stop making trouble for mommy. Please!! Please!!! Do as mommy says. Dujuna wanted out of this room and back in her pink bedroom with her princess bed to sleep upon., instead of in this dirty, filthy, roach infested place.
Lisa Marie and the child locked eyes, Dujuna petrified with fear while Lisa was distorted in blind fury.
With an iron hot grip Lisa grabbed Dujuna by the arm, her long, well manicured fingernails biting deeply into Dujuna’s skin.
Abandoned by her husband, Lisa, took a great many frustrations out on her daughter, so Dujuna Jean did a lot of crying. Lisa had no idea how to be a mother. She had been raised with rich, influential parents, whatever she wanted, she got. Because of this she was ill-prepared to be a wife or mother. Lisa was a young, emotionally disturbed woman who couldn’t cope with raising a child. With After being abandoned by her husband, something within her mind snapped. She felt betrayed.
Lisa’s ex-husband, Larry, was the son of well-to-do parents. They owned two of the most fashionable restaurants in town. Larry was a trim, athletic man who enjoyed wearing tight fitting shorts and a sports shirt.
Their wedding day was one of the most glorious days of Lisa’s life, even though she was already pregnant. She was beautifully dressed in her long-flowing, star studded gown, her eyes glowing with excitement. Marrying her Prince Charming
made this the happiest day of her life. Their honeymoon was something out of a fairy tale—something of which only a princess could dream of. Honeymooning on the French Riviera. Each day filled with new adventures, strolling along the beach hand in hand oblivious of anyone but themselves. Nights spent in romantic passion. Like any other fairy tale it had to end.
Upon returning home the couple settled into a daily routine, or, so Larry thought. While he worked eight to ten hours a day making a living, Lisa was home drinking and smoking even though she knew Larry did not like her doing so, they were addictions. Within a few short months of their marriage Lisa miscarried the baby. Sadness filled their hearts for this baby would have been a boy. Within three months she learned she was pregnant again. There was joy in the anticipation of the birth. The baby’s room was brightly decorated in brightly colored shades of pink. The day Dujuna Jean was born couldn’t have been more joyous. Both sets of grandparents were present for the birth and love flowed from their eyes. Within a few, short days, Dujuna was brought home to her brightly decorated, pink, special room. Looking into her eyes you knew that she was going to be a young woman of heart-twisting beauty. She had beautiful blue eyes that sparkled and chestnut hair that shone.
Within the first year and a half everything seemed to go well, but Lisa’s smoking and drinking became heavier and heavier and she could no longer hide them, which caused irreparable strife on the marriage. Finally Larry could no longer deal with her lying and denial and filed for a divorce.
Lisa was given primary custody of Dujuna with Larry having unlimited visitations. But Lisa could not forgive Larry for divorcing her. Once Larry was no longer in her life Lisa’s frustrations and anger were directed towards Dujuna.
Some children give you no clue as to what they will be when they grow up. But this was not the case with Dujuna. One look into her beautiful face and one could see the birth of a very beautiful young woman.
Dujuna’s blue, sparkling four year old eyes floated above high cheekbones as her pert little mouth bunched up to deposit dry kisses on the nose of her small Mexican Chihuahua that she cradled in her arms.
Mommy loves Sandy . . .
she muttered softly, hugging the black, struggling ball of fur. Some of the puppy’s fur found its way into her mouth. Spitting it out, she wiped her lips on the sleeve of her blouse. Sandy fought to escape the moment Dujuna let up on her hold. But Dujuna was quick and caught Sandy by the hind legs.
You be a good girl now or Mommy will spank.
Arf, Arf.
Stop that!! Stop that you bad doggy.
But Sandy had escaped and was bounding towards the garden which the gardener had turned up and watered earlier. Dujuna was ready to pursue Sandy when she sensed something. Within seconds she heard her mother’s voice ringing through the house.
Dujuna Jean, where are you,?
she heard her mother calling. Darting into the house, Dujuna was intercepted by her mother. Grabbing the child by the arm, Lisa practically dragged Dujuna to her room.
Your father is going to be here any minute. I told you before to stay in your room.
Sandy.
You can play with Sandy tomorrow. oh, No, not again.
Dujuna had wet herself again. Lisa’s eyes filled with frustration as she lifted the child swiftly from the floor and deposited her on her bed. She yanked the soiled underpants from the child and tossed them aside, replacing them with clean underwear.
"Dujuna, I don’t know why you keep doing this to me. You are suppose to be a big girl now. You’re four and you know
