About this ebook

The Lord pointed out to me the number 111 in a special way. I have testified about this in this book and how it led me to the three purposes of the Church which are evangelism, worship and spiritual growth. I do this through 3 chapters in the Bible. They are Psalm 111, Psalm 112 and 1 Corinthians 13.I have also added an important chapter on the Holy Spirit because of so much misunderstandings about spirits. I conclude with a look at Psalm 110 which tells us what's going on now and what is coming in the future. I explain in the introduction my purpose for writing this book which is to raise money for the Castle Theatre Ministry of my daughter's family. If anyone would like to donate directly to this ministry, please send to Castle Theatre Ministry, P. O. Box 201, Dearing, Kansas, 67340. It is tax deductable and they will send you a receipt. The Lord laid on my heart to introduce him also to those who have not fully been introduced to Him. I did this in Act 2 in this book. I hope you are inspired by this writing as much as I have been.

    To the Holy Spirit, who time and again brought to my mind what to write down. I am amazed at what I have written because I could not have done it by myself. When I read through this book, I feel inspired and filled with joy at what the Lord has done.

    Whether you are a seeker, baby Christian or a mature Christian, I believe the Holy Spirit who inspired me to write this book has spiritual food for you in the words of this book. You will find it different than anything you have read previously by Christian writers. It is a combination of an unusual testimony with new revelations of the strange ways God works. Veni! Vidi! Vici! I came and found Jesus in Psalm 111. I saw the advantages for Christians in Psalm 112. I conquered sin in 1 Corinthians 13 like a one-two-three punch. And you too can be inspired. These three chapters embrace the three purposes of the church. They are evangelism in Psalm 111, worship in Psalm 112, and spiritual growth in 1 Corinthians 13. I invite everyone to climb up Jacob’s ladder and avoid the easy downward path into eternal darkness. When I reread the words of this book, I am lifted up and inspired, and I hope and pray it will be the same for multitudes of people. God loves you, and so do I.

    A Stranger Called Mercy

    A stranger came knocking upon my front door

    One day not too long ago;

    I didn’t recognize the face,

    Yet something was familiar

    Something I couldn’t quite place.

    I don’t remember sending an invitation

    Nor did I receive a RSVP.

    Must have got lost in the mail,

    Maybe a message erased.

    Into my life he came

    Without a nod or proper hello;

    I asked him to go away,

    Or to please make it another day.

    What he did want, this stranger of mine?

    Questions brought knowing eyes,

    Then he smiled and touched my hand,

    I’ve come not to harm, only to refine.

    My eyes grew wide as I realized with surprise,

    The foreigner, a stranger not at all!

    He came in my hour of need

    Showing me forgiveness

    That made my Savior bleed.

    So I welcomed the intrusion upon my pain,

    For Mercy found me once again.

    INTRODUCTION

    All Bible references from the book are taken from the NIV version of the bible. All proceeds from this book will go to the Castle Theater Ministry. God has laid on my heart to write this book to accomplish helping this ministry. I am being obedient to what the Lord has revealed to me. I am not an accomplished author. This is my first book. I am a lay Christian who has read the Bible many times and prays regularly. I am not a theologian expostulating on the Bible. I am writing about what the Lord has pointed out to me. This project is in the Lord’s hands and I need all the help I can get from the Lord. God is my Father in heaven, Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit is my counselor.

    The Castle Theatre Ministry is an effort by my daughter and her husband. They desire to have a theater where they can direct Christian dramas to encourage people to make Jesus their Lord and Savior. They live in Dearing, Kansas, with their five children. My son-in-law took his family there as a result of a business he worked for. Barbara and Harty both graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. They love Christian dramatic arts and have been involved in many productions in churches where they have lived. They bought a house in Dearing, which is about ten miles south of Independence, Kansas. Across the street from them was an old stone schoolhouse built by the WPA. They began to dream about purchasing the facility and turning it into a Christian dramatic arts theater. God has helped. They were able to buy it and, with help from many different people, have made multiple repairs and are preparing it for its first production.

    In June 2007, I visited the Castle Theatre with my daughter giving me a guided tour. She pointed out the possibilities for the auditorium, kitchen, Christian bookstore, dressing rooms, and meeting rooms. I can picture it. What a testimony for God this work can become. On the downside is the need for more money, workers, and prayer warriors to step up. I stood in this building and called on the Lord, who provides all things, to help us find a way to get this ministry underway. The Holy Spirit laid on my mind the idea of writing this book to evangelize people, worship God and encourage people to grow in Christ, and possibly raise money to support the Castle Theatre Ministry. As you read this book, you will see how God has had his hands on this ministry for many years. May God bless each one who buys this book and helps to become a partner in God’s Castle Theatre Ministry.

    The roots for this Ministry began back in the early 1990s. It started with me having a bad experience at a motel that I stayed at in Maryland. I was returning from a trip where I had taken my daughter Bonnie to her place of employment. The motel that I had stayed at had a bad spirit, and I could not sleep well. I woke up with the eerie feeling that this was a bad place for me. I decided to leave quickly early in the morning and get away from there. I have no further explanation of this strange experience except that it led me to take a different approach when I traveled to Greenville, South Carolina, at a later date. My daughter Barbara had invited me to come to Bob Jones University and see the dramatic play she was in. I made plans to go but claimed Proverbs 3:5-6 as God’s protection from any more bad motel experiences. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.

    I took Interstate 77 through West Virginia and stopped at the Beckley exit to find a motel for the night. All the motels at that exit were filled up. There were four of them. I went to the next exit, and that motel was filled up also. However, the clerk said there was a nearby ski lodge motel that may have a room for me. She called and confirmed that a room was available for me. I got the directions and found my way to the place. I was astonished to see the sign indicating that it was the district headquarters for the Assembly of God Church denomination. When I went to register, I inquired about the sign out front. The clerk told me that the motel was owned by the Assemblies of God for the Appalachian District, and he was the general superintendant for the district. This blessed my heart because I was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Austinburg, Ohio. God had directed my path to the right place. I considered it an answer to my prayer. The next day I continued on to Greenville, South Carolina, and was able to get a room there at a motel. I was given room number 111 and joked about it to my daughter about how hard it was to remember.

    When I began my trip home, I again prayed that God would direct my path. When it was time to stop for the night I spotted an Econo Lodge motel and inquired about a room. The clerk said he had a room and took a postage-stamp-sized paper and slid it across the counter to me. I was astonished to see that it was 111, the same number I had the night before. Because of the unusual way I received that number, I knew in my spirit immediately that God had heard my prayer and was still directing my path. When you realize God has done something personal for you by leaving a sign, remember it always. It will change your life. The number 111 has become special in my life, and I believe it is the Lord’s doing.

    Let’s retrace my footsteps and see how God has worked so far. He caused me to be upset about a motel room. Then he laid on my heart to use the Proverbs 3:5-6 as a prayer in my next trip. He saw to it that five motels would not take me so I could go to one of my own church denomination’s motel that I had no idea existed. Next, he arranged for me to have the room number 111 twice in a row. The last motel looked like the clerk was used by God to point out in an unusual way this number. Now, as Lowell Thomas used to say, I will tell you the rest of the story.
