About this ebook

This anthology includes poems about sexual and physical abuse.
It exposes the deep hurts and pains of a failed marriage and the
complexity of a withdrawn personality. There is also a bit of love and a touch
of nature that shows the lighter side of life.

The language is simple and realistic and the issues exceed the boundaries of
time and place.

    INTRODUCTION

Things from the past, the mind barriers, the strongholds, can prevent one from attaining his/her full level of greatness that God has in store.

For years I have viewed myself as a negative person with the middle name worry. I felt proud to own up to these traits and carried them around daily, with pride.

I tried to figure out why my life was so wrong and I took the bulk of the blame—shy, quiet, fearful—was my personality and I had to live with who I was because that’s how I was created, that was my destiny. I actually spent all my years in this mode. What a big, fat lie!

    I blamed my past:

    * A childhood riddled with all forms of abuse; growing up poor; had to work too hard.

    * My family—a mixed up mother; an abusive father; a family seeped in secrets.

    * My community—nothing good can come from Greenland, Hanover, Jamaica; even the soil is different.

    * My marriage—the worst mistake; I did everything to make it work and lived in denial
