Would I Be Wrong?
My friendly warning to the fortunate readers of Dazz & All that Jazz
is to buckle up, you are about to read a fascinating and historical book of poetry by Sabine Simon also known as Dazz. Dazz will show you how a young woman from the island of Haiti can turn into a charismatic poet and share with you her true love experiences in America; where she started her writing journey in 1996. Like a lot of poets, writing becomes a therapy after losing a love one, after a painful break up with someone you love, when you try very hard to escape the pain, what can you do? You write about it. In this poem Escaping Pain
The author talk about her wrist, her knife, her blood, her life. It is very unfortunate, when you aimed for the best and you end up facing the worst relationship of your life.
Would I be Wrong
is another title of one of the poems in this book that will give you hope when you are down, this poem will place you in a church praising God, regardless if you were willing to do so or not.
Would I be wrong to want to be on the moutain-top
How wrong can I be when I walk with the One who possesses Eternity?
I am Sorry
is another title that shows the inner conscious of the Poetess, that she is human and she has a big heart, she is willing to forgive; but the pains will never be forgotten because of the scars that keep on reminding you of the sorrowful moments in your life.
This kaleidoscopic summary of countless events that you are about to read from Dazz’s poetry is breathtaking and is indeed textually significant vis-à-vis anyone who has been in good/bad relationship.
Dazz poetry was written with an innate passion, and unconditional love. This book was written in a raw accuracy of what you the reader could have been or is dealing with in your relationships as we speak.
Dazz is from Haiti and Haiti has produced many good writers and poets for its literature: Massillon Coicou (1867-1908), the very first major author in the country known for his popularizing of Haitian Creole as a literary language, the Marcelin brothers, Philippe Thorby-Marcelin (born in 1904) and Pierre Marcelin (born in 1908), Jacques Roumain (1907- 1944) Jean Price-Mars (1876-1970). But it was Jacques Roumain who most demarcated himself as not only an author of fiction, writing about issues of development and culture; but also as an ideologue who took an active part in the development of the Negritude movement as a symbol for both the intellectual and physical liberation of black people.
It is a fact that the literary history of Haiti shattered with the collapse of its economy, culture and political institutions. From a proud people, Haitians became a people in exile both at home and abroad. The intelligentsia left the country and exiled themselves in America or Europe for a better living. It is such a search that one can compare the work of Dazz to any of these writers and poets. The themes of Dazz poetry is love not lust, it is precisely where the force of her work and indirect symbolism lies.
However, Dazz’s poetry will mostly strike the reader by the large amount of pieces dealing with Love
, Travel
, and personal experience in part with profound sense of sadness, disappointments in those that she invested time, trust, and all the missing elements where commitment should have been the essence of any serious relations.
Without letting my surgical scalpel and my personal acuteness invade the author’s serious work, it is with utmost pleasure and pompous pride that I congratulate my friend Dazz on her first poetry book that was accomplished with zeal and unconditional love.
Once again congratulation and welcome to the author’s club……
