More zombies and more bad guys. But now the real threat is defending against the bad guys.

This had a nice cliffhanger and Nagen is that good kind of crazy. But still insane. His personification of Lucille is unstable and creepy but hilarious. I am liking Paul a.k.a. Jesus. He's like a ninja.

Wow. I'd only planned on reading a bit of this before bed, but got so pulled into the story, that I finished it in one sitting. That doesn't happen very often, but this story...this villain, Negan, hooked me.

Yes, he's over the top, but, as far as I'm concerned, so is King Ezekiel. Still, I've impressed how Kirkman continues to keep this story fresh and exciting. He keeps me, a fully-declared zombie hater, coming back for more.

The Walking Dead, Volume 19: March To War – Rick, Gregory and Ezekiel are planning a combined assault against Negan and his ruthless control over their compounds. In this installment Negan shows up at Rick’s compound and moves in for a while just to exercise his vicious domination. Violent confrontations result in serious brutality and death, until Negan is forced to leave. However, he is not planning on giving up any of his control over the other compounds. Rick and his colleagues know they must eliminate Negan as soon as possible. This is another excellent book in this ongoing graphic-novel series.

As noted in my review for volume 18, The Walking Dead series too often forces the drama by having the survivors in violent conflict with one another and all too often with a sadistic bully who is using the zombie apocalypse as an excuse to make a personal fiefdom. I think there are more possible stories to be told of survival and adapting to the new world, but here we have a whole volume with preparation for war, with the upcoming two volumes dedicated to the war itself. Sigh. I guess in a way, The Walking Dead shows the post-apocalyptic world is a lot like our own after all.
