    Introduction

    During her lifetime, Kasturba Gandhi was fondly called as ‘Ba’ by Indians. She was the wife of Mahatma Gandhi. She was a devoted wife, freedom fighter and a social worker. She stood behind her husband during the freedom struggle. She too took active part in the freedom struggle. She proved herself, as the saying goes, ‘Behind every successful man there is a woman.’
