About this ebook
Traveling as a family can be challenging, whether your children have incompatible interests, finicky eating habits, bouts of homesickness, or an addiction to Wi-Fi.
In this book, I share all I have learned through my lived experience with budget-conscious, adventurous family travel!
I have been Visa-less at an airport in New Delhi; satiated my children's need for ice cream in every city from Kathmandu to Manila; and knitted a web of second-family members we continue to bond with as we globe-trot.
My travel experiences continually enhance my relationships with my children, but there have certainly been challenges along the way. In this book, I speak to parents who yearn to explore the world, but are often choked by their own uncertainties about bringing their young children into such unpredictable situations. Fortunately, my book offers advice to quell anxious families, empowering them to take off on their own journeys. Not only can parents tackle these unnerving unknowns with proper preparation and flexibility, I also show that these unique experiences are often the most potent opportunities for family bonding.
Travel with Kids tackles common topics like food, sibling relationships, personal space, and shows you how to plan the best vacation that you ever had. With this book, families can gain the confidence to embark on journeys abroad and actualize their own personal stories, over and over again.
This guide will be your first aid kit - all through the entire vacation.

I'm an ordinary mother living an extraordinary life. A professional writer since the age of 18, I was living a regular suburban mom lifestyle in Israel until one day I realized I wanted more out of life: more adventure, more freedom, more passion...and less mundanity. So I decided to follow my dreams, take my kids, and breakaway. I gave up on washing dishes and doing the laundry. I gave up on car-pools, tedious parents’ meetings, housework, fashion trends and daily checklists. I left my favorite boots behind, along with my most precious recipe book, and carried with me the weight of a thousand doubts. It was September 5th. I cried as the plane took off. We have been traveling the world for over 10 years, and I draw on my experiences to create stories of all kinds.

INTRODUCTION
I sit here, on this traditional Tibetan mattress, looking at the mountains looming through the window. It’s our third summer here in Ladakh. In less than a month we’ll mark seven years since we started our journey.
There’s no internet here, the cellular reception comes and goes and I’m going insane. Yet despite this, I feel as if I have only truly been living for the past seven years.
Seven years ago, when we just started our journey, I was filled with dreams and excitement - like every other person before going on an adventure. But I couldn’t even begin to imagine the places I’d get to and the experiences I’d go through. You can’t imagine something like that.
Even being here, in north India, way up high in the Himalayan Mountains, is something I could never have imagined even daring to do – let alone doing single-handedly with three kids.
It is, however, just a fight away. Just two hours from New Delhi stands the tiny airport in Leh. The only disadvantage is that Leh is 3,500m (12,000ft) above sea level and getting used to the altitude after such a sharp change (from Delhi) can be unpleasant and take a few days.
You can also get there by driving. Choosing between either a bus or minivan in Manali or a private jeep, you can expect to arrive within two days. The experience includes going through six mountain passes - one of which is the second highest in the world - icebergs, forests, white water rivers, huge mountains, Buddhist villages, sacred caves and temples carved into the mountainsides.
You stop for the night in one of the camps. Yes, you sleep at an altitude of 4,000m (14,000ft), in a tent or shared room on one of the highway restaurants alongside Indian truck drivers
