    Wednesday, October 3

    This is my first long weekend since Labor Day. Between my full-time job as an accountant and my charity work (I am president of a nonprofit organization that primarily assists K-12 schools with technology that students can use), I am ready for a little R&R. I am traveling with Don, my boyfriend, to his 30-year high school reunion in Chicago. Even though the reunion is not until Friday night, we are leaving tomorrow so we can relax before the big event.

    Don is leaving his car in my driveway, and we are taking a taxi to the airport together. I had expected him to arrive around 8:00, but there is a knock at the door around 6:30. I blindly fling the front door open. Babe, you’re ear—
