Sherry-Anne Owens looked at the baby in her hands. Her bundle of joy was wrapped in white swaddling clothes. Her blue eyes a reflection of her father but taking her mother’s red locks. Sherry always knew that genetics could cut either way, but it pained her to know that her child had most of her father’s features. The baby had seemed to have possessed her father’s height. She was born quite tall, which she did not mind but had hoped that the child would have at least taken her eyes, her complexion. She knew it was too early to tell, but her instincts screamed that her daughter would have her father’s characteristics. The baby sucked furiously on her mother’s milk as she surveyed the premise. She frowned as though to say ‘this place is so chaotic, I love my warm swimming area better’.
Sherry was only seventeen when she found out she was pregnant with Harry Clinton’s child. Harry was the captain of the football team, the most handsome and popular kid in school. Harry commanded respect wherever we went. His mask of authority made him respectable amongst his peers. Despite him being older than her, Sherry fell hopelessly in love with him. She did everything he asked her too. She was a puppet in his arms; she could be turned to face any direction at his wish.
Harry had managed to score himself the most decent girl in school. A couple of his friends had bet him that he couldn’t bag her and he played along. Harry wooed Sherry until she opened herself fully to him.
Sherry lost her bearing from the moment she becomes Harry’s girlfriend. She had stated by skiving school to see her twenty-two-year boyfriend. Her behavior picked pace when she began disobeying her parents and indulging in orgies. It was as though she was trying to fit into Harry’s world. Her relationship with Harry had spiraled to the extent that everyone in the suburbs had noticed the drastic change in Sherry-Anne, the Church choir master’s daughter. Everyone saw how the sweet church going
