A Fun Night at Home

Lexie made her way to the living room, she placed the chicken wings that had just been delivered on the table and stretched herself across the sofa set.

It was her week off and Lexie planned to spend each night with a bang, however, on this night, all she wanted to do was be alone and watch her favorite program or in this case, wrestling tournament. 

To Lexie, wrestling had always being one of her favorite shows to binge watch and she wanted to compensate missing an entire tournament due to work demands and she was hell bent on rectifying that.

It had been a while since she had one of the nights to herself as the pandemic had sent the entire country on lockdown. 

Due to most establishments closing, Lexie was forced to go for unpaid leave because the other option that was availed to them would leave her with no means to pay her bills. 

After the government opened the country, Lexie was forced to address the fact that she was required to go back to work with twice the energy as there was a high rate of backlogs and frustrations that had occurred as an effect to the pandemic. 

It didn’t help when they had to be trained on how to utilize their marketing tactics on online platforms, it was already difficult to sell a person an item that was not detrimental to their life after the pandemic, so how the partners thought that they could accomplish the same was beyond her. 

The silver lining, of the situation was that she was awarded a week away from work. 

Her employers used the excuse that she was one of their best employees and that she needed to reboot due to the hard work that she injected into the company. However, they all knew the truth, which was that they were scared that the labor laws and regulations will catch up.  

That night, all Lexie wanted to do was spend her time relaxing and doing the things that excited her and one of those things was wrestling. 

After a few minutes of screaming at the television screen, Lexie heard a knock at her door. In her view, the knock discouraged her moods. She had spent the entire day creating the vision of a perfect peaceful night and the same was about to be threatened by unknown person. 

Who in the name can that be at this hour? And will it weird to pray that he/she lives as fast as they knocked? Lexie said to herself as she made her way to the door. 

She wasn’t a fan of unannounced visitors or any kind of visitors for that matter, and every time Lexie had company, she found herself dreading on when they would leave. 

She wasn’t a mean person, she just didn’t see the point of entertaining people who clearly didn’t reciprocate the courtesy that she extended by staying at home. 

After cursing the said person, Lexie made her way to the door and opened it. Deep down she prayed that it was someone that she could at least stand, as they would clearly want to spend the night.

Lexie was too shocked to answer as the person on the other side of the door wasn’t someone that she expected. 

Oh crap! What is Seth doing here? Did I cause this? she thought to herself. 

Seth was one of the exes that Lexie had tried to make a mence with during the beginning of the pandemic. The two hadn’t left things in good terms and at that point in time, she decided to extend the olive branch on social media. 

The last time she checked, the two were good but she didn’t think that they were that good for him to show up at her house with a mini bag expecting to spend the night.

If Lexie was in the shoes of one of her friends she would have advised them to let the man rot outside in the cold, however, she was not in her friend’s shoes and against her better judgment, Lexie let him in.
