Jason felt overwhelmed as he rolled off his wife's lithe body. She shot up instantly and headed to the bathroom to take a quick shower before work. This was one of the few times she'd let him touch her despite wanting another baby so badly. However, Jason didn't feel lucky because of it. If anything, he felt more pressured. He couldn't bear the look on Jenna's face after she would take the pregnancy test a few days later. He hated knowing that once again, he had failed her. Jenna wouldn't hesitate to let him know it herself. It was what she did best during their years of marriage. Nag him while constantly reminding him that he wasn't good enough for her. That he was lucky she didn't put him out of the house when she clearly had the power to. It was her house after all and she paid all the bills with his small delivery job only serving to take care of himself. 

Jason dragged himself out of bed and headed for the kitchen. He didn't want to see Jenna's face when she got out of the bathroom. She always seemed a bit too pleased at having washed him off her. Jason felt the exact same way sometimes. At this point, it was a wonder that the two of they were still married. He had a feeling than Jenna just loved to hurt him and staying married to him was the best way she could. He would often sit alone trying to think back to the past for an incident when he had done something terrible to her. Anything that would justify her hatred for him.  However, he always came up with nothing. It seemed that his wife was just a malicious woman.

When he got to the kitchen, Jason paused at the doorway watching the sitter make breakfast for his son. The only thing he had ever done right in his wife's eyes was the boy seated in front of him, yet she still didn't treat their only son like the gift that he was. She dumped every single task on Maya never taking part in the boy's life. Maybe when she looked at the little boy all she saw was his father and the future he had robbed her of years ago. At least with this new child, Jenna would have control. 

Maya didn't hear him come in and continued to cut small pieces of fruit just like his son liked her to.  The two of them had developed a strong bond only a short time after Maya started to work for them. Jason could tell that it bothered Jenna though would never admit it to anyone. It would be like admitting that she was a great mother when Jenna had strived all her life to be perfect. 

Watching Maya work like that made him wish he could be free. He'd thought of it so many times over the past few months but just like the rest of his life, this wish didn't seem like it was about to come true. He had a lot of images in his head of what he would do when he rid himself of Jenna's grip and all of them involved Maya. It was crazy how someone could grow on you in such little time.

Jason? Maya said turning her head around. She ran to him with her arms held out and hugged him. Jason smiled thinking that this small display of affection would not sit well with Jenna who would be out of the shower any time now.

 Jason held on tightly to Maya. He had been thinking of her for the whole night even when he was with Jenna. Their embrace didn't last long with the evidence of Jenna still clinging to her skin. Maya pulled away probably hating the strong scent of the woman who'd hired her. It must have reminded her that no matter how much she played around with Jason, he had someone else.

How are you? he asked trying to make it less awkward. Maya didn't reply clearly hurt that he'd chosen to spend the night in Jenna's arm instead of her. What was he supposed to do? It was his wife. It would look too suspicious if he pushed her away. She'd know something was up.

Good, she replied coldly, How are you Mr. Parker? I see you slept well.

Don't do this right now Maya, Jason begged with a desperate look in his eyes. She only addressed him so formally when she was upset. It seemed to be happening a lot more lately. Their feelings for each other had grown stronger and with that the jealousy also seemed to grow.

Excuse me sir. I still have work to do, she said and without another word walked out of the kitchen. Her eyes were filled with tears as she held the young boy in her slender arms. Jason was left alone having to think about where he went wrong.
