    So why not give the following activities a try? Each one is explained in detail, and examples are included. Feel free to adjust the activities to include your own exciting ideas. They’re here to provide not only instruction, but inspiration!

    Important note: The library and internet are your friends. Use them to retrieve the resources and items you’ll need to accomplish the various activities. Remember, it’s not the money spent that matters, but the time spent together.

    1. Puzzle Showdown:

    (The Young Competitor)

    Puzzles are known to be a great way to pass the time. Add a little competitive fun with your puzzle, and it’s guaranteed to be a good time. To get the fun started, purchase two identical and inexpensive box puzzles. Create two teams that will be competing to see who finishes first.

    While players work to figure out where each puzzle piece goes, make sure you set the scene with festive music and snacks. You can even add your own decorating touches based on the theme of the puzzle. For example, if it’s a floral theme, select spots to place fresh or dried flowers, spray a floral scent around the room, or serve flower-shaped cookies.

    Your group size and how much time you allot for the game should determine how large a puzzle you select. It’s a great opportunity to joke around and have lively conversation during the competition. Though it’s a contest, the competition will create great camaraderie amongst the puzzlers. Now, do you have time for a 1500 piece puzzle? Great! Go for it!
