Hotel Transylvania Transformania Movie Novelization, Simon SpotlightCHAPTER 1
PARTY TIME!
It was an exciting night at the Hotel Transylvania. It was the hotel’s 125th anniversary, and there was a major celebration planned! The ballroom was festively decorated with balloons and streamers. Monster and zombie guests started to arrive, dressed in their most ghoulish best. It was going to be one of the best celebrations at the hotel.
Mavis’s husband, Johnny, roller-skated happily around the center of the ballroom while Mavis; their son, Dennis; Mavis’s dad, Drac; and his wife, Ericka sat at a table near Johnny.
Here’s to Hotel Transylvania!
Johnny exclaimed. Celebrating one hundred and twenty-five years! Congratulations, Drac!
Drac gave Johnny a polite smile. He loved his son-in-law, but sometimes Johnny could be a bit too… enthusiastic.
So great. Thank you, Johnny,
Drac replied. "What a wonderful surprise that was. I was so full of the enjoyment. Now we can move on to the actual planned part of the celebration."
That was only the beginning, Drac,
Johnny replied. It’s time you take a step back and enjoy your anniversary party!
What?
Drac asked.
Relax, Dad,
Mavis told her father. Johnny worked so hard to make this extra special.
Oh no,
Drac sighed.
It’s a Johnny takeover celebration!
Johnny shouted. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy your party! Hit it!
Just then, loud dance music started playing. Whatever Johnny had planned, it was surely going to be outrageous.
Drac’s friends Wayne, Murray, and Griffin all looked at Johnny strangely. Like Drac, they thought Johnny was sometimes just a bit too outlandish. They looked over at Drac in curiosity.
What are you looking at?
Drac asked his friends. "The show’s that way."
It’s more fun to watch you squirm,
Griffin replied.
From out of nowhere zombie fire dancers appeared! They were dressed in hula skirts and spun fire sticks high into the air.
Suddenly Johnny shouted, Let’s do it, Frank!
At that moment Drac’s friend Frankenstein appeared. He was juggling chain saws while riding a unicycle.
Isn’t this great?
Frank shouted. Johnny taught me!
Send in the dogs!
Johnny yelled.
Dogs?
Drac questioned.
At that moment a monster dog parade trotted in.
Ice sculpture, go!
Johnny said. Zombie staff members of the hotel wheeled in a huge ice sculpture of Drac. The ice sculpture was gigantic! The bottom of it had been scooped out and filled with festive party fruit punch.
Wolf pups!
Johnny called out. A swarming pack of wolf pups ran in. They were each holding a letter to try to spell out the words Happy Anniversary.
The letters were out of order, though, so Johnny’s plan didn’t exactly work.
After that, true chaos started to ensue. Frank spotted the fire sticks flying through the air.
He got very nervous. Fire bad!
Frank shouted. He tossed the three chain saws he was holding, which flew in different directions. One chain saw hit Drac’s ice sculpture. Another cut one of the zombies’ arms off. The last chain saw set a curtain on fire.
Okay, that is it. Hold it!
Drac yelled. He flew up into the air and used his powers to freeze everyone at the party.
Dad!
Mavis shouted. He wasn’t able to freeze Mavis, because she was a vampire, just like Drac.
Right, can’t freeze other vampires,
Drac grumbled. He turned to Mavis. Look at this mess. It’s a disaster!
He walked over to all the fires, blew them out, and
