Savior and Brittani 2 - Traci B
Brittani Evans-Davis
Y ou triflin’ ass bitch,
I barked before I lounged at my former best friend with the scissors. I just knew they were about to stab the bitch at least one good time but of course, Savior came to her rescue.
As soon as Savior grabbed me, I started swinging on his ass too. Let me fucking go, Savior,
I yelled not caring that we were in a place of business. He clearly didn’t care about his business if he let this kind of shit happen. After he realized that he couldn’t tame me, he let me go. Grabbing the stapler from the desk, I threw it directly at Sierra’s head. Now that’s what I call giving good head, bitch!
I yelled before I walked out. I kept my head held high long enough to walk past all of his employees. I didn’t bother to say bye to them even though I heard them calling out bye to me. This would be my last time ever seeing them again anyway. As soon as I got inside the car, I broke down and cried. After eight years of marriage and over twelve years of friendship, I felt as though my tears were justified.
I drove straight past the exit that would lead me home and went straight to Shelby’s school. I knew she was going to be pissed that I was getting her from school early because then she wouldn’t win the perfect attendance award at the end of the school year. Oh well, she had earned that same award ever since she has been going there. I was sick of seeing that award all over her room anyways. As soon as I told the receptionist at the front door that I was picking up my daughter, the principal came out and asked me if things were alright. I guess she assumed that something was indeed wrong because it was rare that I had to even go inside the office. A few minutes later, Shelby walked out with her pouty face on. At her age, I didn’t recall being that pressed over having to go home early and I wasn’t living as half as nice as she was at her age.
Mommy, why did I have to leave school early? We were having a classroom pizza party at lunchtime,
she whined once we got inside the car.
Really, Shelby? Any other time, I can’t even get you to eat pizza. If you want a pizza so bad, then I’ll pick you up one on the way home.
But why did I have to leave in the first place?
she continued to press the issue.
See? This was the type of behavior I would have to nip in the bud at this very moment. She could get away with talking like this to her father but not me especially since I was about to become a single, divorced mother. The last thing I needed is to be raising a disrespectful 8-year-old.
I whipped my head around so fast as my mom had done numerous of times when I was a child and I said something out of line. Through gritted teeth, I said, I’m the momma. I don’t have to explain anything to you. If anything, you owe me explanations. Do I make myself clear?
Yes ma’am,
She sniffled because I had raised my voice. I had never done so a day in her eight years of living, but I did what had to do. I carried her for nine months, not the other way around. I called in a medium-pan meat lovers pizza and picked it up on the way to my mom’s house. When we pulled into my mom’s driveway, I looked through the mirror and saw Shelby pouting in between bites of her pizza but she didn’t dare say anything which was a good thing. Shelby grabbed her box of pizza and headed towards the door. I grabbed her backpack so that she could complete her homework once she finished eating. The whole time my phone was going crazy. It was constantly vibrating from Savior blowing me up.
Oh, now you want to talk to your wife?
I mumbled underneath my breath. No amount of calls or texts could explain what I saw back in his office. He was caught! I powered my phone off and let us inside my mom’s house using my key.
Maaa,
I called out to her.
In the bedroom,
she yelled back.
Shelby, finish your food. There should be something in there for you to drink. I’ll be right back, okay?
Okay, mama.
I walked in my mom’s bedroom and she seemed so at peace with life. Boy, I would’ve given anything to be in her shoes right now. She had gone through a divorce many years ago. Since I was younger at the time, I never knew the effect the divorce had on her. All I knew is that she was standing strong today. Before I could even open my mouth, I cried on her shoulders.
What’s wrong?
she asked.
Finally, finding the words to say, I said, I was right. Savior is cheating.
My mom popped up so fast. She nearly tossed me off the edge of the bed. What?
she yelled in complete disbelief.
I-I went to his job today because I couldn’t sleep. It’s almost as if my intuition was telling me to show up at his dealership. When I did, I caught him in the office with Sierra.
Sierra, Sierra?
she repeated. As in your childhood best friend Sierra?
"Yes, that Sierra. I can’t believe it myself. I never saw any signs."
That’s how it usually is. I can’t believe your best friend out of all people would do something like that.
And I can’t believe the man I married would something like that too. I mean, he’s the man I exchanged vows with.
True enough, I was pissed at my best friend, but I was even more pissed at my husband. Often times, we always took things out on the female and not the man when it came to cheating. As I got older, I remembered my mom blaming my dad’s backup singer for their divorce. She would always say that she knew that my father had a wife and child back at home, but did she? Hell, my father knew for certain what he had back at home. He should’ve been held accountable. Even though Sierra knew everything, I was still pissed at Savior.
They are both equally wrong, but I’m blaming that bitch, Sierra! Y’all have been the best of friends since kids. She was your bridesmaid and the godmother of Shelby. She knows damn well that she wouldn’t want the same thing done to her,
she continued to fuss.
Well, in Sierra’s defense, she has always said that nobody’s man was off limits to her. I mean, we were in our early 20’s at the time. I didn’t know that rule still applied this many years later. I damn sure didn’t know that she meant that mine wasn’t off limits too.
My mom kept shaking her head. I think we were both speechless. We had both lost our husbands to infidelity. Just scandalous! These bitches ain’t loyal either.
Even though I was hurt, I cracked up. Momma, you play too much.
I’m serious! I always thought she was a little envious of you anyways. I felt like she always wanted to compete with you. Her motivation came from you. She has always wanted to outshine you. That right there ain’t no real friend baby. I hate you had to find out the hard way.
I do too, Mama.
So, what are you going to do?
she asked even though she should’ve already known the answer to that question.
I’m going to do what I’ve been saying I’ll do. I’m getting a divorce.
Damn, I just wish you would’ve had a prenup in place. Savior would have to pay me for that kind of betrayal. It’s one thing to mess with an employee of yours. That’s not uncommon or unheard of but you just had to mess with the best friend? In his eyes, he should’ve seen y’all like sisters.
Exactly! That’s the crazy part. They both knew our relations to one another. Somebody should’ve been woman or man enough to turn somebody down. I just don’t understand how a man could ever leave me for that.
I referred to Sierra. I loved my best friend, but we were definitely opposite from one another.
If she got that ‘no is man off limits’ type of attitude then I can only imagine what she’s carrying. You may need to go to the doctor and get checked out.
Trust me, I stay on top of that. The last time I went to my doctor is about two weeks after we returned from that trip to Houston. I just knew I was pregnant or close to it because this app told me that I was ovulating around that time. I started cramping really badly after a glass of wine. That cramping turned into bleeding and you know that birth control I had stopped me from being on my period. Even after I got off birth control, I still didn’t have a period which was odd, but I definitely wasn’t complaining. I accused Savior of giving me something, but the results all came back negative. So, I have to give him his credit where it’s due. Either he’s smart enough to wrap it up or Sierra isn’t as dirty as we thought she was.
The chick is dirty. She ain’t got a clean bone in her got damn body,
my mom countered.
Just then, something hit me. I was stunned at what I had pieced together. You know what, ma? You may actually be right. This may be a reach, but I think she’s responsible for me not getting pregnant a few months back.
She looked at me oddly and asked, How did you figure that?
Before I realized that she was messing with Savior, I used to tell her everything. I mean, everything that went on in our marriage. I guess I should say I told her everything that went on in that home – the bedroom included. I told her about the trip we took to Houston as a family and I even mentioned that there was a strong possibility that I could get pregnant because I was definitely ovulating at the time. Do you know what she did?
At this point, I don’t even think you can surprise me when it comes to her but go ahead. Tell me what she did.
Well, first of all, she was definitely faking being happy for me. I know that much which I just didn’t realize until now. So, she’s pretending to be all happy for me and whatnot. I’m sure she was screwing Savior around that time too. She suggested that we have a glass of wine to celebrate since that would possibly be my last time being able to drink if I actually was pregnant. I sent her to the store to get her favorite kind of wine and mine as well. Well, this bottle she got was particularly sweeter than usual. Keep in mind that I had been constantly complaining about the bitterness of this particular wine brand. All of a sudden, the bottle is sweeter than usual when she buys it for me. Now, I really believe that she may have put something in that bottle to prevent me from getting pregnant. As I’ve said, I’ve never had cramping or bleeding since coming off the pill for a few months.
I wouldn’t put nothing past her but in all honesty, what you’re saying may be a reach due to the simple fact that a corkscrew is usually needed to open the wine. So, if she did indeed put something in your wine why didn’t you see her do it?
Because my particular wine doesn’t require a corkscrew. You can twist it open just as you can untwist certain beer bottles. I feel that she did something to my drink just as I felt that Savior was cheating.
My mom opened her mouth to say something, but the sound of the doorbell chiming stopped her in her tracks. She followed me as I led the way downstairs. My foot had barely touched the bottom step and I could hear Shelby speaking to her father. That negro had some nerve to show up to my mom’s house after I had caught him a few hours ago.
Feeling charged up all over again, I ran up on him again. At this very moment, I didn’t give a damn about Shelby seeing her parents fight. I was tired of putting up a façade in front of her anyways. After all, we weren’t a damn royal family. I started delivering a few blows to Savior’s face. Though I had somewhat blacked out, I could hear Shelby screaming for me to get off her daddy. Like a fool, Savior let me hit him a few good times in his jaw before he picked me up and body slammed me onto the couch.
You don’ lost your fucking mind, Brittani,
he said through gritted teeth. His spittle went flying everywhere and he had turned red in the face.
Even though he was much stronger than me, I was still trying to wriggle from underneath his grasp. I wanted to fuck him up some more.
Tell Shelby what you did! Tell Shelby what you did!
I constantly repeated, almost screaming to the top of my lungs.
What did you do, daddy? What did he do, mommy?
I heard her asking while crying.
No ma’am, Brittani! Don’t you dare bring my grandchild in this. She’s way too young.
"Really, mama? I was a year older than Shelby when you and my father got a divorce.
You kept me informed as if I was 18 instead of nine," I stated in utter disbelief.
How convenient would it be for my mom to not want Shelby to know what was going on with her father and I, but she never missed a beat when it was her situation? She was just bashing Savior not too long ago. Well, she was actually putting the blame on Sierra more than she was Savior. I was doing right by putting the blame on him because, at the end of the day, I married my husband and not my best friend. Savior must have been cutting her a hefty check on the side because she almost never spoke ill of him. It was almost as if she was afraid to do so.
She didn’t even give me a chance to explain, mama,
he said.
If looks could kill, Savior would be one dead son of a bitch. The only reason why
