About this ebook

Decades of the pain and shame inflicted by ‘don’t ask-don’t tell’ having finally been cast off in favor of more willful ignorance was a blessing to gays in the armed services. The regimented willful ignorance; the impression you get in places like Annapolis or I imagine West Point or any of the other military learning institutions, is that gay people are far more commonplace now that their sexuality doesn’t absolutely define them as unfit soldiers as it has in the past. We're tolerated because we’re prepared to fight and die for our country. Navy Ensign Dane Howard gives us the 1-2-3 of how soldiers express their sexual interest using safe codes to avoid using actual words. For instance, if a gay soldier gets mixed signals and propositions a straight soldier, the straight soldier won't understand the codes so all conflict is avoided.

The novels and short stories I have published on this platform are gay male erotica. My novels provide a more in depth view of the characters I construct and I only hope you, the reader, feel I do those characters justice by defining them as more than simply sexual objects. I've strived to add deeper and broader character dimension as I weave them into the storyline. My short stories are commonly called "bang-boy" books because they get right down to the nitty gritty and often spontaneity of consensual sex between men in various scenarios. Other readers have described them as just short enough to get them excited and worked up and in that way, very much like the former fiction stories published in the gay men's magazines of yesteryear.WARNING: If you live in or visit any countries where homosexuality is illegal, download my work at your own risk. Please take extra care and may peace always be with you.

    The Fort Soldier’s Code

First off, let’s get some things straight. There’s not much in my personality or previous behavior that would indicate I’m slutty or easy. I’ve been opportunistic with sex in the past, seizing chances and rolling the dice of rejection. I’ve had guys tell me no if I made even a mild pass at them, I’ve even been punched not once, but twice. It’s interesting to note that those two guys so violent in their objection to my making my sexual interest in them known, ended up being two of the most passionate lovers I’ve ever encountered and dare to say may ever encounter.

My life changed and kept changing when I enlisted in the US Navy. At first it was because no matter the amount of time that passed or how many drugs I tried, when onboard a ship, even when not moving, I was endlessly sea sick. With my grades and aptitude, and undergrad in Logistics from UVA, I was soon transferred to the first of many posts. I attended specialized training in Munitions Deployment at Annapolis in Maryland.

Perhaps a higher level of soldier exists in such prestigious military institutions by virtue of either their family or their own individual drive, but they all seem to have a cavalier approach to men or women being gay. After the decades of the pain and shame inflicted by ‘don’t ask-don’t tell’ having finally been cast off in favor of a more willful ignorance was a blessing to gays in the service. A regimented willful ignorance, the impression you get in places like Annapolis, or I imagine West Point or any of the other military learning institutions, is that gay people are far more commonplace now that their sexuality doesn’t absolutely define them as unfit soldiers. We’re prepared to fight and die for our country, too.

One thing I did find interesting is the widespread code phrases used by soldiers to describe various sexual encounters with the same sex. I only know about the men’s codes, but there are women’s codes too. A C&C is actually code for another code, the most commonly used in my experience, which stands for cream & clean. This code phrase is for a blowjob and tongue bath to remove all evidence a blowjob took place. Literally, Helping Hand meant to masturbate another man.

For the less intimate, more no-strings sexual encounters, B&G was ‘blow-n-go’ and depending on who initiated when asking another guy for a B&G, meant that you wanted the blowjob in that scenario. If you were into full-on fucking the soldier of the same sex that had captured your sexual interest, then that was referred to as FOF which means ‘Full-on-fuck’. Whichever of the two (or more) initiating or requesting an FOF was asking that other solider of the same sex if they could fuck them.

If, in that scenario you didn’t want to get fucked by the guy who asked you for FOF, then say no. But if you want to fuck him, ask him for the FOF. Follow? In the one-word answer to the question, you are explicitly communicating your preference for top or bottom, giver or receiver, dominant or submissive.

Only gays know these codes, or those that like attention from gays for C&Cs or B&Gs.

When you arrive at a base anywhere in the world, word circulates very quickly and you need to peg-in to your camp or you’ll remain a person of intense interest. When I say peg-in, I mean that you need to openly commit to your interest in sex with other soldiers, either men or women, and make those known up front whenever asked. Word gets around. If a male, if you encourage attention from other male soldiers with known homosexual proclivities, you’re ‘pegging-in’ to that camp whether you just wanted a no-strings B&G from the guy or not. Point is, you need to be very careful about how you interact because you’ll be labeled, and sometimes falsely.

My name is Navy Ensign Dane Howard. I arrived at Annapolis after a disastrous deployment aboard an aircraft carrier. As soon as I boarded, it started. By the end of the second hour I was already at the infirmary seeking medical help because I could not get my sea legs under me as they put it. I managed most of it with meds, but on the 15th day I was hospitalized because I wasn’t getting the proper nutrition or enough water. Everything that went down my throat, even water, was just something to throw up.

They made the decision pretty fast from the start that I was not going to be a soldier of the sea once that started. Others were seasick too, but nothing like me. I was transferred off the ship at the first port and flown to Ramstein AFB and hospital. Because I was my father’s son, I was healed, rehabilitated and sent back to the states for desk duty work. I was not washed out, which would have been an embarrassment to my family.

Well, I still may end up embarrassing them eventually because I am gay and seeing how my brethren are treated now in the armed services,
