बहुत सोचा तेरे खत का जवाब लिखूं,
मगर लिखूं भी तो क्या लिखूं।
चंद लफ्जों में बयान कैसे हो,
सोचा हाल ए दिल पे एक किताब लिखूं॥
जिक्र तेरा आए उससे पहले,
तुमको गुल लिखूं या माहताब लिखूं॥
मेरे हाथों में हो अगर किस्मत की किताब,
तो इश्क से आगाज और इश्क पे अंजाम लिखूं॥

माना की मयखाने में सब बराबर है,

पर तेरी आंखों की मय उसे पिलाता कैसे॥

शम्मा तो बज्म में ही जेब देती है,

मैं उसे इस खण्डार में जलाता कैसे॥

यश तेरे गुनाहों का कुछ हिसाब नहीं, खुदा भी कहेगा की मैं तुझे बचाता कैसे॥
