Stop Minimizing Yourself - Jalisa Major

    Introduction

Happiness is a direction, not a place. – Sydney J. Harris

Often times we tend to place our worth and happiness into things that don’t matter. We purchase all of these material things in this world and we’re still miserable, still bitter and still unhappy. Do we ever just sit down and think why am I still unhappy? We can drive the most luxurious cars, build our dream home, land our dream job, graduate from college, buy the most designer items and we still feel unhappy. You want to know why? It’s because we’re not happy within ourselves. We don’t value ourselves, we don’t accept our flaws, we’re too busy trying to impress other people and we tend to seek their validation.

We keep compromising our happiness for other people while we’re suffering in silence. When are we going to put ourselves first? We have to learn to stop depending on others for our happiness and create our own. Learn to be grateful for what you have and don’t focus on what you don’t have. What you don’t have won’t make you any less than the other person that does.

We want to start a business but we start to doubt ourselves and think my product won’t sell, or that no one is going to support me. We tend to make up these excuses like I’m going to start when I get some more money, but if we keep waiting and making excuses we’ll never start. Some of us want to apply for a promotion or change companies but we doubt ourselves thinking we’re not good enough; thinking that we won’t get picked, thinking that no one will actually see our value. Why do we do this? Is it being afraid of failure, afraid of rejection or maybe you just don’t you’re your worth. I’m here to tell you to believe in yourself and do the thing.  We shouldn’t be living a life thinking about the what if’s or the should haves. We need to learn to be positive in every situation; like what is the worst that can happen?

A few years ago I was working on my third job; I was at a stage where I wanted a change. On the job I was one of the fastest
