    INTRODUCTION

Growing up in India, as a Hindu, I never knew I had a loving ABBA in heaven till I was in my twenties. I attended catholic schools and sang songs about Jesus but had no clue who He was. I sure did not experience lasting peace because I did not know the prince of peace. Rather, I constantly felt a spirit of oppression, anxiety, and worry seemed to overwhelm me even from a young age. I entered medical school in India when I was 17 years old, as customary after high school. About the third year in medical school, a friend of mine, who had become a Christian, started reading Bible verses to me and praying for me. Although I was not in any remote form or fashion interested in knowing about Jesus or listening to the Bible verses, her unconditional love seemed to be a breath of fresh air in my life. Her grace and kindness stood out in a tough world, a world of rat race where everyone looked out for themselves. But the spirit of oppression was still operating strongly in me.

In my last year of medical school, when I was an intern, I was at the utter brink of hopelessness and despair, that I decided to end it all. I decided to give one final shout out to heaven, and I cried, If there was a force in heaven to do something about my life, or I would choose to end it. I never called on the name of Jesus but simply let out a cry of despair. And then something so beautiful happened. The very next day, our sweet Lord and Savior revealed Himself to me through a specific verse in the Bible. As my dear friend read Hebrews chapter 13, verse 5, I WILL BE NEVER LEAVE YOU; I WILL NEVER ABANDON YOU, I suddenly felt free and no longer had any suicidal ideation. I felt an embrace and a sweet assurance that Jesus would take care of me for the rest of my life. Jesus revealed Himself to me as the Lord, and not in a church service. No one preached the message of salvation to me, and there were no altar calls. He simply sent His word and pulled me out of the pit I was struggling to get out of. I still had not given my life entirely to Christ.

Soon afterward, I found myself devouring the pages of the Bible, specifically the book of psalms. The pages of the Bible became my comforting place, my safe place, and my healing balm. I literally felt my heart being washed of all the hurts, wounds, and disappointments and filled with a sense of comfort only our Lord can give. I felt a hope that pulled me even deeper into His delightful presence. And then, in December 1999, two years later, I was ready to give myself to Him. I knelt in my living room and accepted Him as my only Lord, the way, the truth, and the life. Finally, I was ready to enter the narrow gate.

My friend, maybe you are in a lonely place right now. Maybe anxiety and worry seem to overwhelm you and leave you hopeless. I want to encourage you in the pages of this book. I want to tell you, you are not alone, and you are not without hope. You have a loving and all-powerful Father in heaven who cares for your everyday affairs so profoundly. His arms are wide open for you to come to Him. He is ready to take all your cares and worries and anxieties; how many ever there are, and comfort you and heal you and fix things for you. He sent His beloved and precious Son to remove all that is obstructing you from ever having an abundant and beautiful life. He is ready to love on you and break the backbone of fear and anxiety.

And as you read these pages, I pray you to feel the Father’s love, wisdom, and guidance. I pray your burdens to be lifted, your anxieties washed away, and you will feel a renewed sense of hope and purpose. I pray for strongholds of anxiety and depression to be broken and joy and peace take their place. And may you live from a place of victory, a place of reigning, a place Christ suffered so much to give you.

    REMAIN BLESSED IN HIM,

    DEEPA SUKUMAR

A LETTER FROM YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER

See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!…

    (1 John 3:1 NLT)

    My precious child,

Words cannot describe how much I love you and cherish you. As you start this day, I want you to know you are not alone. Do you know, when you were sleeping last night, my eyes were watching over you carefully and tenderly? Do you know my angels were in charge of you and your family as you were sleeping soundly? Sometimes you toss and turn, and your mind is filled with concerns as you lie down. My sweet child, remember, worrying does not do you any good. Turn over every care to Me because I want you to be carefree in Me.

My child, I am your maker, your creator, and I can fix anything that seems super complicated to you. The problems and challenges you face do not startle Me. I want you to know that I love you, and I am firmly and steadily holding your hand as you go through your day. My child, never be anxious or afraid of what the day may bring. My power, wisdom, and goodness are more than enough to overcome any challenge or concern you may face. Take time all through this day to be still and know I am able. My dear child, when things seem all too overwhelming, please stop, and listen to my calm, reassuring word.

I am your Father, who will continually comfort you, strengthens you, and gives you the wisdom to tackle any challenge. I will teach you and guide you in the way you should go. Otherwise, you will waste precious time, making your mind wander with busy, anxious thoughts.

Finally, I am your Father, and I created you in my image. I love you so much that I was willing to sacrifice my most precious possession, my Son, Jesus, on the cross to rescue you, deliver you, and give you an abundant overflowing life! In Him (Jesus), you are blessed and stand undefiled before me. Remember, you are always loved, always protected, and always worthy in Me, no matter how you feel or what the world may say about you. Rest your mind and your soul in Me alone and remain carefree in Me while I perfect everything that concerns you.

    With love,

    Your Abba, Almighty God

    SCRIPTURE VERSES TO MEDITATE ON

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

    (1 John 3:1 NLT)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

    (1 Peter 5:7 NLT)

"I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

    (Jeremiah 32:27 NLT)

For I hold you by your right hand—I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

    (Isaiah 41:13 NLT)

So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.

    (Luke 12:32 NLT)

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

    (Romans 8:32 NLT)

    JESUS IS ALL YOU NEED

…His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

    (Isaiah 9:6 ESV)

Friend, today, I urge you to prayerfully put aside every challenge, concern, or anxious thought and just focus on JESUS. Jesus is our deliverer and the answer and solution to anything that may be troubling your heart today.

Are you afraid? Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and He lives within you and will make you as bold as a lion. He has crushed satan’s head and has authority over
