About this ebook
I love a sunburnt dystopia.
Straya lies in ruins. A once proud nation, former Australia has regressed into a patchwork civilization cowering under the deadly heat of a merciless sun. Savage violence lurks around every corner. Good pubs, but.
Affable young mutant, Franga, risks life and double-jointed limb to

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not a genre-bound dystopian novel, a rich pudding of socio-political observation, gory visions (hovering between the truly horrific and child-pleasing, cartoonish gross-out), humour, a richly imagined world (Sydney in the not too distant future), characters you invest emotionally in — wrapped in a wonderfully expressive language, a half-invented version of Aussie slang (like a mutant progeny of Anthony Burgess and Afferbeck Lauder) studded with striking similes. Smart enough to be smartarse, but saved from that by its big heart and moral centre.
I liked it.
Did I mention the humour?
