Introduction
The creation of this book began years ago when I first became a Christian. I found I had a heart for praying, first for myself, and then for others. This brought me closer to God. With the help of God, I have changed my prayer life as my relationship with God has become closer. My heart has opened to his call and incorporating his Spirit within; which has led me to an active prayer life.
Prayers that I have used, that mean so much to me, I started saving them to memory and then wrote them in my notebook. It has been many years now as I aspire to be a humble servant. I attempt to imitate Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior and expand my interior life in prayer. With the help of the Holy Spirit I have changed from a man looking to have God make things the way I want; to a man searching God’s heart and asking him for his will to be done.
Leading Bible Studies, becoming a Retreat Leader, and a Director of Christian Initiation at church are just a few of the many ministries I have participated in that brought me to extend my prayer life. The Holy Spirit revealed to me the needs of his children and showed me more of what’s on his heart. I have had others tell me, you should write a book of your prayers!
Many of my prayers and poems were given to me while sleeping through dreams and are recorded in my notebook. Through my spiritual growth, love of God, and others I was inspired to write.
I progressed into becoming a Chaplain, attending two different Chaplain Academies. I had my choice, to work with a Sheriff’s Department or a Hospital after finishing the academies. I became a Chaplain at a hospital and committed myself to helping the sick and people in need. As a Chaplain, I began to put together several prayers I could use in that position. As a Chaplain you encounter many different religions and beliefs. I was called to pray for others, to provide them peace and consolation as a Volunteer Chaplain.
After several years I was asked by a Pastor to write a book of prayers. I realized that the Holy Spirit had led me to compile a book, with several people asking me to write prayers down over the years. Those multiple confirmations have led me to this point where I started putting pen-to-paper. I have written hundreds of religious articles over the years, so I have been well prepared to write and publish Extraordinary Prayers.
This book includes those inspired prayers of my own, which are conversations with God. This book took over 30 years to write.
~ May you find these prayers a blessing
and comfort as I have.~

What is Prayer?
I define it as communication with God; raising our heart, mind and soul with an earnest hope in God. It can be done in a variety of forms: praising God, worshiping God, thanking God, asking God for something, and intercession for others. There are many ways to define prayer – this book will help one to see the various ways to describe prayer. The one thing that they all contain, is raising your heart, mind and soul to God. Most of what I write is oriented with the Christian view point. However, I know there are many other beliefs and many thoughts of what prayer is, but they are all to communicate to their Supreme Being.
Prayer conveys our humanity with our suffering through our adversity, tribulations in which we vent our inner pain, sorrow, and negative feelings; we also express our positive feelings of desires, hopes, dreams, faith, and love to God. Searching for God’s wisdom, understanding, and most of all his will for ourselves and happiness in God.
Prayer is our love to God and his love to us. God wants to be with us always and wants us to want to be with him; so, he is always waiting for you as a loving parent would. We are his sons and daughters and he always is there for us. God is content just sitting quietly with you in his presence. We don’t need to have something to say, be content to feel the eternal love he has for you. Always know whatever you are doing or thinking, he is right there with you. He is showing you answers which is elevating our thoughts and love to his. This is done while leaving you freely to choose your own wants or his. He loves us no matter what we do, right or wrong. Our free will is always our free will. He hopes our will is aligned with him in unity. God doesn’t change, it is only us that change.
Realize he is there for us in every decision and thought we make. So, if we feel lost and can’t figure something out, ask for God’s grace to show us the way. Talk to him as a friend, that is where he wants to be. After all, that is why he created you, to be close and personal, and share everything with you; as seen in the relationship with God the Father and Jesus his Son.
Another thought –
We can also pray to others for their intercession for they too want and must follow God’s will, here below is an example:
