I
Mindset for a Successful Midlife Transition
There are two ways to be happy: Change the situation or Change your Mindset towards it
– Buddha.
First, let me clarify the rationality that inspires me to write this second edition; and why the work in ourselves and mindset is so crucial. We are experiencing a radical change in the history of humanity that nobody was foreseeing. This topic becomes very relevant at this time. We are not going to ignore the socio-political realities and changes we are experiencing. One thing I know is that external circumstances can not define our future. Society is always evolving as it did, for example, after World War I, World War II, the Cold War, economic depressions and recessions, and political/government changes and upheavals, to name a few external circumstances. And because of those changes, societies evolve, adapt, and flourish.
I wanted to encourage women, who are the heart and soul of the family, to envision and work for a better world, and it all starts by changing the state of affairs, which is where I think mindset changes everything. Attitude changes our perception and the way we experience life. We can see the world as gloomy and hopeless and do nothing, or we can elevate ourselves to be the light to change what we can change. We should not let ourselves just blow in the wind.
Have you noticed that lately, in certain circles, everybody is talking about mindset? And did you know that this concept even existed at the time of Buddha in the year 623 BC! Why is it so essential to create the right mindset? BUT what is a mindset, anyway? And why are we talking about mindset in this book?
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, mindset is defined as a noun: The established set of attitudes by someone.
Mind your life
What do I mean when I say: Mind your life
? We can create life the way we want it and encompass what we care for in our life. Everything happens in the mind first - either as a conscious or unconscious thought- visualization or manifestation in our minds is the most crucial part of creating what we want. Once you have that clear vision in your mind, then develop an immediate, a short-term, and a long-term plan and make it happen by staying committed and focused on your vision and goals: Mind your life! Visualize in your mind the life you want to have.
So, since everything starts in the mind, this is what mindset is about: Like with everything that you want to accomplish in life, there are fundamentals:
1.The most important one: You have to be clear about what you want. You need to have a clear vision, goal, purpose of what you want to achieve.
2.Preparation and practice.
3.Commitment and focus to accomplish your vision. Remember, it’s not about perfection; it is about commitment.
4.And the most relevant, you have to have the conviction that you can accomplish your vision.
Going back to the topic of this book, I’m going to share what my own experience, observations, and research have taught me about menopause:
1.It should not be a big deal to enter menopause if you are healthy, the periods stop, and life goes on as usual. But this is not the case for many women because they are not physically and psychologically prepared to make this process easy and they lack the right mindset to embrace it.
I will even argue that my program, suggested in this book, can also support women that have not hit menopause yet. Still, they need to start preparing their bodies and their mind before they even get to menopause, which is the ideal situation because prevention is better than having to cure. Postmenopausal women also benefit because they will maintain their health and vitality by using the tools I teach in this program.
No doubt that the knowledge you apply is power. This book provides you with a holistic understanding of what’s going on in your body and how to stay physically and mentally healthy using the power of mindset, nutrition, and lifestyle practices.
2.Besides the lack of preparation, there are all kinds of myths and misinformation that women reaching menopause have to face, like the cultural and social stigmas around this topic plus the financial motivations of the medical system trading on women’s fears of menopause and aging.
In truth, what is happening is you are entering a stage of life that can be the most rewarding and exciting years of your life or the most miserable phase of experience, depending on your mindset because it’s really up to you! It’s all about your Mindset.
And let me explain! The symptoms associated with menopause are real for many women, which motivated me to write this book. Menopause - which is natural to all women, not a disease - has been medicalized and the treatment
provided by the medical system is not designed to solve the real issue.
I am not denying the natural process of life: we all are born, mature and die, but no doubt, the way we think and what we do makes a big difference in the way we experience life regardless of the chronological age. The mindset with which we embrace life makes the
